Hello all, I hope this isn't an overpost, but I searched for a while and had no results.

Just overhauled an 1125CR from an insurance auction this past month. Everything is running great when I notice a problem. When I turn the bars to the left the instrument cluster turns off completely, the headlight cuts off, and all turn signals are illuminated (not flashing, just on), but the engine will continue to run normally.

I've checked out all the connectors under the flyscreen with a test light and everything seems to be in working order, but if I jostle the wires the lights will turn on and off. I'm thinking loose wire/ground somewhere, but I'll be damned if I can find it. Any ideas what might be causing this problem?

Dieselmoto - check this link below. Not quite the same conditions but Bextreme04 was kind enough to fetch some cluster/ECM diagnostic steps from the Electrical manual that may help.

Probably a dumb question, but are there more than 2 chassis grounds on the bike?

I am inclined to think this is a grounding issue as well.

check the loom at the front under the headlight, its a common place for fractures after an accident, start bike up and turn the bars lock to lock and bounce the front of the bike, should show up then !

Right, I know the problem is in that area. Is there a ground wire in the front that I am missing?

there is the one on the front of the steering stem and that whole clump of wires there that can get pinched pretty easy. i would start with those... pull the loom off and check for visible damage. If it's bad enough to be causing an issue like that it should be visibly loose or damaged(by visibly i mean you should see or feel it moving when you turn the bars).

According to the 2008 R service manual, IP Pin 13, and Pin 3 are connected to the same ground as both front turn signals, headlamp assem, horn, clutch switch and the Aux connector. If you suspect a broken ground wire in that line then it may be worthwhile to check continuity between each of those point to help narrow down where the break might be.
