Well me and my 1125r have had a few rough spots in these past few months just out of curiosity what do you guys think would be a equal or greater replacement for one of these bikes.I would pretty much only consider a twin besides the s1000rr. Is there anything you guys have ridden that you wouldn't mind having in your garage over the buell??? |

Those are all nice choices I would be comparing a RSV4, s1000rr, RC8, 1098, anything along those lines preferably something I could pick up for under 15k new or being a year old. If anyone has ridden those and wants to share there thoughts it would be greatly appreciated |

I'll take a totally different perspective. I sold my "B" bike and used the funds to buy a 2007 Honda CBR600RR, already track prepped. It's no Buell, that's for sure. But what it's missing in character, in power, and especially in corner grunt it makes up in support knowledge around the track about the bike, and the amount of rider skill it takes to keep that thing wound out and maintain the corner speed so you aren't killed on drive, among other things. I'll still sprint race the Buell for sure, but endurance racing our 2003 Honda 600 has taught me I have a lot to learn about riding well. So, I thought I'd get my own vanilla, slow, typical UJM and learn how to really ride. And, then, take those skills to my next race on the Buell... It's a whole different animal, but pretty dang cool at the same time. It doesn't have the cache of the european bikes cited above, but will probably do more for my skills as a rider than any of those choices would... and, I can probably afford to toss it down the track, God forbid. |

As my 1125 has been off the road for so long, I went out and bought a Duc 1198. Although its power and torque is in a different league to the Helicon, when I get the parts to make my Buell reliable, I look forward to getting it out of the shed and riding it again. Apart from my favourite X1, it's the bike I enjoy riding the most |

While my 1125 was in for a stator I bought a '11 Ducati 848 Evo. In the looks department it wins hands down. Down low the Buell wins and in the top the Duc wins. Even though the Duc is a twin albeit a smaller one it is a blast to ride. Definitely a little more hardcore than the Buell. So now I have to make a choice every morning which one to ride and it is a tough one as they are both full of soul, character and an absolute joy to ride. I don't think I could totally replace the 1125r though. (Message edited by 03fatboy on September 06, 2011) |

rode s1000rr both as a dealer demo and I have a rich friend with one. the frame is stiff... as stiff as the 1125r - it makes the suspension work and BMW has a lot of knowledge about suspension and how it needs to "work" in order to give the rider the confidence to "push the envelope". the engine is very good and BMW has added all the right goodies (wheelie control/traction control/speed shifting) I rode my friend's bike on one of our favorite "racers road" and and came away amazed as to how fast I could ride it even in it's "slowest" map mode. Brakes are fantastic - on the dealers demo ride we had to follow the leader in order to not get into too much trouble with the local authorities - came into a freeway exit way too hot (was too busy watching the damn tach) and got on the brakes hard ( ABS kicked in) leaned her way over as the exit was an up hill reducing radius and she just stuck to her line (no Oh shit moment)- riding my friends on the local RRoad - it forced me to concentrate even more to be smooth - but the bike is so confidence inspiring - you just want to go faster. ( and you can!) BMWs cost more to fix - ( my friends first service was $350) and BMW dealers are not very plentiful - so weigh the total cost of ownership (insurance + service+ distance to dealer) before you jump into the deep end - with all the bells and whistles and extended warrantee my friend spent almost $20k!)...I bought the 1125r home so i could try and keep up with him - in the tight twisties we're close - he runs away from me on the straights - but he should... he spent way more than I ever could on a bike. it is a fantastic bike - try and get a demo ride on one before sign the pwk. |

BMW HP2 Sport. A fantastic twin engine, roughly the same amount horsepower at the wheel and a lot more torque, less weight (wet), engineered to perfection with a lot of attention to detail, bolted together with the very best money can buy. And last but not least, it's unique. Just like a Buell. |

I hate jap bikes so no hondas lol. My buddy has a s1000 and its a beauty. "YOUP" I never considered a hp2 but thats a excellent choice! I love the 848 But I know if I traded for it I would miss my helicons overall power! |

The 848 is definitely missing the low end grunt of the 1125 but on the top spanks the 1125. But has the character similar to the 1125. And the 848 is definitely not as comfy as the 1125 on the street, on the track it is amazing! |

Either the RSV4 or the Yamaha R1--both have that wonderful engines. Aprilia with the V4 and the Yamaha with the Crossplane inline four (sounds and acts like a V4). |

Good question. I've been wondering a lot about that myself. I use the 1125R mostly for commuting these days, with occasional weekend use. I'm REALLY not using the bike anywhere near its potential. I've been looking around at vehicles that would serve "commuter use" better and right now the two biggest contenders are the Yamaha TMax, or Suzuki Burgmann. Sorry... must be my age catching up to me... Of course, I'd still like to see what Erik Buell Racing has up its sleeve for us "mainstream riders" (and by that, I mean those of us who don't want to pop $40K on a single-focused bike like the 1190RS). |

I looked into the Maxi scooters. The only one that really will make you feel good is the Yamaha TMax as its engine and chassis is the closest to a sportbike. Read the reviews and it's all there in black and white. Nevertheless, the TMax will do 60 mph in about 8 seconds! That's slow compared to almost any motorcycle. I don't think I can live with that where I commute. If I'm going to be on two wheels I need to be fast as that is my only reason to do it. So having said that, I think the best commuter is the Firebolt XB12R. It's simple and low maintenance, yet plenty fast. |

One of the regulars in our club broke his regular bike (Connie 14) and showed up at a club ride on his 600 Burgmann...he said he never intended to actually go on the RIDE with it, but we talked him into it with promises of free lunch. He did amazingly well on it. And I also am looking at getting a twist n go for commuter duty...and save Jezebel the nail magnet for weekend duties. |

probably either with a triumph or a ktm. Looking at another S2 if the money falls right, but if I sold my Buell Cr, I would probably put the money toward paying off some credit cards, and look at a Royal Enfield Classic. A nice Slow Classic bike to put around on, using my Tube frame buells for the big stuff. |

The local roads just aren’t doing it for me. I moved from the Appalachian Mountains and miss them very much! If I were to get rid of the CR, which I’ve considered often but will likely never follow through due to sentimental value, I’d keep the track beast XB9R and get a BMW K1300GT and do some touring. |

"If only triumph packed that 1050 in a superbike!" it would bee cool to see triumph make a superbike but i dont think the 1050 would cut the mustard in terms of power |

yea I know I didn't think that comment all the way through. A Brand new super bike with a 1 liter engine from triumph would be awesome though! |
