I signed up for a track day at Beaver Run in PA on the 10th of next month and I think I will need a back protector.Any help and suggestiond will be appreciated.I have two piece Teknic leathers that fit pretty tight and don't know if I should try to get one that fits inside or one that fits outside and don't really know the differance.My leathers have armor in the back but I ain't sure they will consider that a back protector.Thanks. | ||

Anything is better that what came in the suit. I have a Knox Aegis 8 Plate Race protector. Did the race as I only wear it on the track, it's a bit longer than their standard protector, and probably wouldn't be comfortable if sitting up. Take the center back pad out of the suit to help the protector fit properly. | ||

+1 SportBikeTrackGear You can also buy an armor harness that you can wear underneath your jacket or leathers. This harness is similar to what the motoX guys wear that incorporates a back protector and chest guard. The slip in protectors work great but the harnesses provide more support for your rib cage and some of them have pads on the collar bones. What's the most common injury during a motorcycle wreck? Collar bone fractures. They are thought to be caused by the helmet rim impacting the collar bone upon impact. Of course every wreck is different but a little bit of padding on the collar bones won't hurt anything and could help prevent or at least slow down your helmet rim smacking your collar bone. So for the info overload... if you can't afford a harness just pick up a good back protector or talk to the guys at SBTG.com they will help you get the best product on a budget. | ||

I ran the Moto Series track day at Nelson's Ledges OH in June. I have the two piece Buell race suit w/waist zipper which fully complies with track day requirements. But I will say that the tech. inspectors did not spend anytime inspecting my gear except for my helmet. They did check for the DOT certification sticker in the helmet. Enjoy your day, it was as much fun as I have had in as long as I can remember! The main thing that I learned was to trust my tires and lean harder. |
