I found a brand new 1125R at a dealership. The bike has been sitting on the floor for 2 years and the last I saw it there'd a year ago it was 8995.00 now they are asking 9600.00 The dealer claims because the bike is now a rarity they can raise the price. The bike may be rare but now with only 5 years left to get parts is this really a selling point. This is the same dealer who had a new 2003 XB9R on the floor a year ago. Would you pay 9600 for a new 1125R now? (Message edited by snackbar64 on August 22, 2011) |

What part of F'No is unclear? For $4k less, you can expect to pick up a well maintained '09 with some miles, but also the kinks worked out of it, and perhaps a collection of nice spares and aftermarket part upgrades. |

+1 to JD. Using that logic, the dealer near me with a brand new no miles 1996 Buell S1 should of sold it for $50k. They sold it for a tenth of that. Eventually this place will want its valuable floor space back and will sell the bike for a reasonable amount, or someone will lose a drunk bet and buy it full price |

Nope... Like Jdugger says, there are some REALLY low miles 1125s out there for a lot less and they may come with some accessories that you'd probably buy for yourself anyway. As to their claim about being able to raise the price due to rarity - it's true, they can...and customers can choose to laugh and walk out. |

There's one at Southside Harley with 17X miles on it for less than that, significantly less than, and I venture to say it is still too much. It's gorgeous with a nice Corbin on it though. I'd be happy to pick ya up from the airport for a ride on it after you buy it! http://www.southsideharley.com/new_vehicle_detail. asp?sid=06876947X8K22K2011J2I25I13JPMQ1392R0&veh=9 2572&pov=2263619 |

In addition to mine for sale (plug, plug) there's this one close to you that looks to be quite the smokin' deal! http://dallas.craigslist.org/mdf/mcy/2553360184.ht ml |

friend got a NEW 09 CR for $6700 about 6 months ago I paid $6500 for my R about the same time, about 1k miles on it, mint condition I wouldn't spend that much for a new on (Message edited by sprintst on August 22, 2011) |

It it was a '10, I may pay $9k for it...but only if there are no low mileage ones available in the used market. Just offer them $8.5k OTD and see what happens. If they see that you are serious, they will work with you. If they don't, they're greedy bastards and you shouldn't buy their bike. |

They have a new 09 CR on the floor as well but are asking 8400.00. I have always been skeptical of buying from private owners because of warranty issues. Can I buy an extended warranty on a bike two years old from a private owner? Would Harley still sell me one and honor it? (Message edited by snackbar64 on August 22, 2011) |

Don't forget that you will probably end up spending good $$ fixing the stator yourself eventually |

Snack if it has a warranty it is transferable. You should be able to buy an extended warranty as long as you do it before the original runs out. If you get the VIN# and have somebody run it they can tell if it has a warranty and when it expires. Also I would double check if HD will still sell the extended warranty on a Buell. 9600 is a lot to pay. |

... mine is under warranty until October Personally, I feel the warranty is a waste of money. HD is unlikely to fix your bike in a timely manner, or be able to fix your bike at all. These bikes are easy to service and a relatively fun to work on, at that. There's a pretty good support network of Buell owners around D/FW, too. I'd not fret buying a used one, personally. |

I agree with Jdugger. I would NOT rely on the dealers at this point. The wait for parts is long and dealer mechanics have begun to loose their know-how on Buells if not already. Most of them will go through the loops and pitfalls of a common warranty issue when the answer is free and clear right here on this board. |

run far,, run fast,, dont look back.. warranty is useless when there are no parts you WILL need parts, likely lots of them. So far this summer im down 7 weeks and the parts for the latest issues arent even ordered yet (and bike cant be ridden) VR and Stator <--fixed Rear shock Front Forks Front brakes contaminated from forks Clutch ECM (from Stator frying) And bike has a whole 6600kms so next year you can expect the same repairs on your dime. I don't know about the rear shock braking...that's not a common ailment. But the front fork seal going, yes. I just had mine fixed by a local shop (I removed the fork tubes; it was very easy to do). Front brakes, I can clean that up. ECM, easy to replace. Clutch...if it's the weep then replace parts with new, improved parts. I would rather do all that myself rather than wait for dealer to do it WRONG. |

So where do you get new parts if not from the dealer. Does American Sport bike carry....say an ecm for this bike? |

American Sport Bike is a good choice for basic parts" brake pads, body work, final drive, etc. I order a lot from them. For the ECM, you get those from EB Racing. Parts availability right now is pretty good for these bikes unless you are trying to get warranty work done. HD is suspiciously always out of parts, even as the aftermarket seems to have everything you could need. |

H-D seems to be dragging their feet on parts for Buells. The wait is up to a month on most parts now. Basically, I think they just want to wash their hands of Buell. I know this is beating up on a dead horse but......I used to like buying USA products. However, after H-D's handling of Buell, I really lost my appetite on any US-Made motorcycles. EB is an American who lived for striving to make his vision come true and revolutionizing the sportbike world. He looks at things and asks, what if? He thinks outside the box. Now here comes H-D, the big, fat American bad boy and what do they do? They kill the dream! I just don't get that! Without people like EB who dream of what-if scenarios and think outside the box, we would not have made it to the Moon, defeat the evils of WWII, and come up with bikes like the 1190RS. EB dared to face the world head to head and H-D kills his dream because they were full of fear! Sorry. One of my good friends at work just got let go. Rant over. |

Rogue_biker +100. HD was unable to recognize Erik's passion to dominate the performance market. In the first 1/2 of the 20th century Harley's race heritage put the company into the #1 market place. History can teach us all some lessons, some worth repeating others not. |

I think they just want to wash their hands of Buell. that is a correct statement verified by a HD warranty guy. |

$9600.00 ?!! No way. You can definitely find a gently used 1125R for less, as others have said. That guy in Grapevine is practically giving his away but if you don't want that perty white one, I'm selling my black '09 with ~2700 mi here in Houston (also a plug!) Good luck with your search! Cheers, Phil |

What parts are these "most parts" that are taking a month? I can only name 2 off the top of my head that aren't bodywork. I will have to try and get into HD Net and see, but I believe you are blowing things out of proportion based on two or three people complaining about waiting for a single part. HD has been lagging with parts distribution for about 2 years now, they closed down the Franklin distribution center and thats put a kink into part fulfillment times on both Buell and HD parts. |

Froggy is right when I was picking up an oil filter the other day at the dealership I overheard a guy being told a month wait on some tank decals for his hog. And they had the filter in stock lol. |
