So I'm looking at the Erik Buell Racing ECM and they mention an ECM for stock exhaust WITH catalyst and one without catalyst. I didn't know they made them without a catalyst. Is the OEM exhaust without a catalyst freer flowing than the OEM exhaust with the catalyst? Are these exhaust interchangeable in a 2008 California 1125R? Will my OEM ECM work with an OEM exhaust without a catalyst? Thanks. |

Thanks for the link Jules. Great info. This leads me to my question then: If I put an Erik Buell Racing ECM flashed for a non-cat OEM muffler, it should work on my California bike (2008 1125R)? Any educated guesses? |

Yeah I'd guess it would work but it won't be the optimal map for that setup. |

My bike had a CAT muffler but the new one the dealer put on my bike it does NOT have CAT. Black painted vs Stainless |

Capt. America, is your bike a CA bike? I plan to paint the non-cat OEM muffler the high temperature Black paint so the finish doesn't matter. I just care that it is dent-free. Mine is kind of dented and a bit chipped and has a few rust spots. Instead of taking that off and repainting, I figure I'd get a used one, take my time re-finishing it, then install. I was planning on getting the Erik Buell Racing ECM anyway along with the K&N filter. |

If possible, get a NON- cat muffler, they sound and flow noticeably better than a cat- muffler. And get the E B R ecm. You'll be glad you did. |

Well alright I will. I've looked at all the aftermarket exhaust for the 1125R. None of them really look good enough for me. It seems all of them look minimalist, and once installed the bike cries out for a full fairing to cover the empty area under the engine. Say what you will about the OEM exhaust but it does complete the naked bottom portion of the 1125. |

Thanks. I contacted Erik Buell Racing and they said it will work; that along with a new ECM (for non-cat OEM exhaust and K&N) will tie it all together. |
