I am a big fan of the Vesrah SRJL-17 compound and the DP Brakes HH+ compound. Unfortunately neither of those manufacturers make rear brake pads for the 1125s (Vesrah doesn't even make fronts) and I'm having a hell of a time finding anything besides EBC pads for the rear. My rear isn't worn out yet--I'm just looking for an upgrade (better initial bite and stopping power) and I don't particularly like EBC pads in general. (I'm the guy that badmouths them every time there's a "what brakes should I buy?" thread and someone says EBC.) Now in my experience, EBC pads are better than stock, but they're not MUCH better. If no other manufacturer makes powerful rear pads for the 1125s, I'll try EBC, but I'm really hoping that some of you have found some alternative pad that works well. Thanks! |

In my opinion, I am not sure you are going to find any rear pad that works very well on this bike. I am currently running EBC pads on the rear and the DB HH+'s on the front. The DB's offer a great feel compared to stock and the EBC rears do seem to grab a little better than the stockers as well. |

That's good that the EBC rears are at least something of an improvement--I am beginning to think that nobody else (other than Harley) makes rear pads for the 1125s. |

Braking and SBS both make rear pads for the 1125. both are better than stock. We keep Braking pads in stock. |

Someone was bouncing around a Vesrah part number here, and when I emailed them about it they gave me a bunch of contact info for Erik Buell Racing, leading me to believe...something. Vesrah didn't explicitly say they don't make pads for the bike... |

Vesrah did a run of XX compound pads for the front, but good luck getting them to admit to it or finding them. I actually like the OEM pads well enough. They last forever. I replace them when that little hanger wire wears through and breaks. They still have material on the pad. |

You know, after changing the original 2007 OEM pads off the front of my bike I've never gone back, but the newer bikes came with a better compound didn't they? |

Trojan, who do you work for? (Trojan Horse Racing, perhaps?) Can you give me a little more info about the Braking and SBS rear pads for the 1125? (I can't even find a website for Braking--seriously, that's about the worst name for a company since that word is so commonly used.) I also found a post from you from back in '08 where you said "Having used SBS pads on other bikes I prefer these to EBC HH compound or Ferodo pads." What do you like better about the SBS pads? I want as much initial bite and cold stopping power as possible. |

Trojan, I also see that SBS offers a sintered rear pad and a carbon rear pad. The SBS website isn't very helpful--the descriptions are listed as: "Carbon - For riders using the rear brake hard to help steer into turns and handle the bike out of turns it is recommended to use the SBS RQ compound." "Sinter - For riders using the rear brake occasionally or only slightly going into turns, we recommend using the SBS Street Excel LS sintered compound." I wish they would just say "this compound is designed to last longer" or "this compound is designed for better stopping power". So, do you have any impressions about either of those? Thanks! |

Apparently DP Brakes does make rear brake pads for the 1125s. http://www.parts-unlimited.com/part/getItemDetails .do?partIds[]=181912 I've been really happy with the DP Brakes HH+ front pads so I think I'll give these a try. (Although I'll wait to see what Trojan has to say before ordering.) |

Do any of these come with the little wire hangers? I'm down to one pad with a wire hanger, and I have a whole stack of pads without the wire/spring. It's the little wire that always breaks on me, long before the pad wears out. EBC pads come without the wire. |

These bikes have rear brakes? Seriously, with the wheelbase the rear brake is pretty pointless very quickly (Message edited by sprintst on August 22, 2011) |

Mine is OEM. It works if you stomp on it! LOL! Actually, it works fine as a supplement and it does make me stop smoother during that moment when the bike is about to make a full stop. I like using the rears for that. I use the rears all the time and I believe that has kept the rear brake fully functional. If you only use it occassionally, the rear just seems to loose grip and power from all the exhaust soot. I also regularly clean the rear disc rotor when I wash the bike. Every little bit helps. I like a to brake with both wheels when I'm riding, not just the fronts. It seems to help maintain front to rear weight distribution harmony. |

My rear brake and rear tire are covered in oil, I still have no problem stopping with the rear only, but it does seem to take longer to slow down than my oil free CR! |

Jd, Tell me more about this wire. I have stock pads on back and don't use them much but I will have to replace them someday. |

The pads hang on a pin on the caliper by a little spring/wire on the pad. It's this wire that breaks all the time. Actually, the wire wears on the caliper pin, too, and eventually you replace the caliper as well. |

Get s Brembo goldline rear calliper, at least it can be rebuilt and there are far more pad choices. |

Update: DP Brakes does NOT make rear pads for the 1125s. Parts Unlimited was wrong, and a rep from DP Brakes confirmed this. So I'll probably go with the SBS pads. I'll post more info about them after installing them. If I don't hear back from Trojan in time, I'll probably just get the sintered rear pads since "sintered" seems to be the best performing front pads. |

Dirty_john, does Brembo make a caliper that is compatible with the 1125s? If so, what's it cost? (I'm guessing somewhere between and arm and a leg, and a kidney.) |

Yea, Brembo does. I almost bought one a while back. I think it was around $100. It was surprisingly not bad at all. Next caliper I replace will not be OEM, that's for sure. |

How would I find pads for that Brembo caliper? Is there some other street bike that uses the same caliper? And, if you find a site selling the caliper, please post the link! |
