I recently purchased a 2008 1125R. Upon looking under the seat I see this. I'm curious what this is, as it isn't stock. The green wire pigtail attaches to the negative battery terminal and the black wire doesn't attach to the harness that it looks like it's supposed to attach to. I'm also curious what the plugged up hose is in the lower lefthand corner
I'll be pulling the frame off for the 12000 mile valve inspection and also to apply insulation to the frame next week, so I'm sure I'll figure out. I just wanted some other opinions. Thanks, Michael (Message edited by Phlegm on August 17, 2011) |

That looks scary, I believe that main connector is for the fuel pump. The line on the left may be the fuel vent tube but without a full picture its hard to tell. |

Yea that is not supposed to be there! Some kind of alarm or something? I think the hose may be either the fuel vent hose or the crank breather hose. |

Ok after some research into the service manual, the green and black wire are grounds. The connection in the connector must be bad or something. I'll have to call up the previous owner to see what he did. Well I found the fuel vent hose and that hose in the pic is the breather hose. The crankcase breather hose concerns me. I would think it would be bad to plug it up, therefore not allowing it to function. Any comments on that? |

DO NOT PLUG VENT LINE!! Bad things happen when you do that (after posting, determined that vent line was in fact plugged) .... http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/290 431/641270.html?1310211085 |

So I found where the hose connects to, but I can't find in the service manual what it is. Any ideas anybody?
Also, I removed the frame to do the 12,400mile valve service. It went a lot smoother then I expected. All valves were within specs, but on the tight side, so I replaced them all. I figured I had the frame off, might as well do the work. Only problem was that I forgot to connect the maps sensor in between the cylinders, so I had to remove frame again to reconnect. Also after I connected the maps sensor and got the frame back on, I noticed that i forgot to install the ram air port. so once again off comes the frame. guess i'll remember those next time LOL. |
