I was going through here about a month ago and came across a post that had detailed and illustrated how-to on upgrading to a newer solid state transformer, but I can no longer find it. I have havn't had any electrical problems with my '10 R, but the subframe under the seat gets super hot here in Las Vegas and I wanted to do something about that. If anyone knows what I'm talking about and could point me in the right direction it would be much appreciated. (Message edited by jldrooger on August 13, 2011) |

There are a few threads here about regulators. I think that's what you're referring to. Do a search for compufire or VR or regulator and you should find what you're after. |

Jldrooger a eebbrr ecm would probably lower temps 10-20 degrees. running water wetter also seems to lower temps significantly! I would say new ecm, new exhaust, water wetter, wrapped exhaust pipes, and frame insulation kit would cut down alot of heat. I've personally done exhaust and ecm upgrade and it stays 169 almost constant compared to my buddies cbr600rr running at 220 all the time. He doesnt think his undertail exhaust is so cool now!! lol |

The last underseat exhaust I had (on a T595) was so hot I had to put a fireblanket above it otherwise my pillions butt got burned.. I'm considering some water wetter too but my temps are similar to yours (George) so it may not be an issue - i guess UK weather helps (it's cold!) |
