My K&N and Free Spirits Dobeck/EJK card arrived this week, as did the solenoid resistor. I carefully fitted the EJK today and removed the solenoid and replaced the stock air filter with the K&N. I also removed the baffle from the APH exhaust. The EJK shows the correct light sequence on starting and I programmed it as per the instructions. I took the bike out for a run and intermittently at steady throttle for intervals of a second or two it stutters and cuts out. This is at light throttle and less than about 4,000 rpm. It's bad. It's not all the time and when it's running well its much better than stock. Open the throttle and it goes really well!! I've emailed Dobeck but I don't think its the settings as I've played with adjusting them too and the intermittant stutter remains . I've used a Teclusion before and this doesn't seem to be just a bad setup. I'll recheck all the connections tomorrow although I was very careful fitting everything. I was surprised that the 4 connectors (2 for O2 sensors and 2 for injectors) weren't 'handed' in any way. I didn't lock the throttle mechanism after denoiding. I will do that tomorrow. I wouldn't have thought that would or could cause this issue though. I'll also disconnect the injector end of the EJK to see if the bike runs okay without it and perhaps the unit is faulty. Maybe should have gone for a Erik Buell Racing ECM after all. Otherwise any ideas? Peter Edited to add, I also had my engine management light come on at times, it resets itself and isn't on at the moment although the stutter remains. Try resetting the throttle position. I don't remember the method, but with ECM changes it seems to be the usual course of action when issues such as this arise. |

Doing two or more things at once is a bad idea. Each idea must stand on its own merits. Put the bike back the way it was, test and tune one thing at a time. |

You are right of course it isn't ideally good practice in theory but there's also the factor that taking the air box off means that all the jobs can be done in one go. Factor out the K&N which isn't an issue and you have the denoid with the EJK. I'm happy to work with those mods together. It a personal choice I'll try resetting the TPS today and letting the bike idle for 10 min. If that doesn't work I'll remove the airbox, check connections and cable tie the throttle. If that doesn't produce a result I'll disconnect the EJK at the injectors. I'll update. Peter |

Well, reset the TPS and had no success. I also rechecked all the EJK connections and locked the secondary throttle linkage. The bike starts, idles for a few seconds before a misfire sets in and then chimes back as as the engine management light comes on. I then disconnected the EJK and all's well, although the bike will be running very weak of course. Conclusion? Defective EJK. The symptoms are almost identical to those on my GS when the Techlusion failed (in Spain on my holiday). My best suggestion for the 1125s is either Erik Buell Racing's $250 ECM or the $750 programmable one. I found that by retarding the timing to ~5-6 degrees BTDC instead of the OEM 12-16, low-end smoothness let me ride at idle speeds in 1st and 2nd. More fuel globally and a little fatter WOT overlay and some more advance up top worked very well. I used O-S-B software for a while to accomplish that. When I looked at the settings in the race ECM, they were similar to mine, but different enough that mid-top was much stronger than my maps, so I run it now. My 2¢ Zack |

Try setting the EJK to original suggested settings and unplugging the O2 sensors. My bike, w/EJK runs just fine, gets good mileage w/sensors unplugged..... it was not happy w/EJK while sensors were connected. |

I'm loath to pay £210 for something that doesn't work as it should. The symptoms are pretty much identical to the failed unit on my GS. When the Techlusion/EJK is working correctly they can transform a bike but I'm fairly sure mine is defective. If that's the case then that's 2 out of 3 I've owned gone down and I'm not sure about trusting a 4th I've asked the supplying dealer if they can get a hold of a Erik Buell Racing ECM Peter |

Why not order the Erik Buell Racing ECM directly yourself? |

Because offsetting the refund for the EJK will be easier than negotiating a cash refund and buying it outright if the dealer has a stock. It'll be $250 plus tax and postage too Peter |
