So im in the process of selling my bike and its been sitting for a year. I put a charge on the battery and went to start it and "theft error" appears on the display and the starter wont engage. |

Sounds like the anti-theft code was activated somehow. Hoping someone has an answer for the oem generic code for you. |

Your battery is still dead, you will get a theft error if it is too weak. |

Letting it sit self discharging for a year without periodic recharging will kill the battery. I think it's called "sulfation" or something like that. The sulfur comes out of solution and plates the lead. |

Time to replace your battery then. Pressing all the buttons in the world won't fix a issue due to low voltage. |

Leave the battery charger on it overnight, then start it the next morning with the charger still connected. Won't fix a bad battery but will give you 12vdc. |

The owners manual says the default code is 0000. But I have never set mine and when I entered 0000 the IC says incorrect code. It also says if code is forgotten you have to take it to the dealer so they can reset it |
