I want to start by saying I LOVE my Buell, I have owned an X1 and now own a 1125r 2008 and a 2009. It is truly sad that it seems like I am just waiting to have my Stator fail!! I ride my 08 very little, it has 4000+km's and so far no stator issue. My 09 has 8km on it right now, i still have not decided if I will ride it or showcase it and keep it for a few years before letting her see the pavement?? Maybe once she is put on the road this stator issue will be resolved??? It's just sad to see the extent of failure on this board and in riders lives, how about some posts here of us who have had no issues thus far, that would be a little encouraging |

People come on here and post looking for help when they have an issue, they don't post about the other 99.999% of the time when they are out riding without issue. If you like, I can make a boring post every day about how I drove 70 miles to work and back without issue. You have several Buells and the Ninja, no reason not to ride as much as possible. If the stator does fail on you, repair it and get on with your life. |

Betzy, I had the same discussion with my dealer a year or so back. He told me that they had installed the harness, that it worked, and to ride the beejesus out of the bike and quit listening to everything I heard on the BadWeb. Now I understand frustration with something failing when you want to ride. I also understand when it seemingly takes forever to get something properly diagnosed and fixed. I think many folks expect mechanical things to never fail. Attitude counts for a lot. Just had to replace the transmission in my truck. I had religiously maintained the transmission. It failed at 140,000 miles. I was pretty put out. They also no longer produced new transmissions.....had to get a factory rebuild. Looked at another way, it was guaranteed to 60,000 miles. I guess I got my money's worth out of it with it lasting over double the guarantee. Sure, my stator will eventually fail, just like the alternator I replaced in my truck a few years back. Ride the thing and enjoy it...that's what I am getting ready to go do right now. (Message edited by black on August 13, 2011) |

Good news B; the '08's aren't prone to stator failure. Ride and enjoy! |

Mine just went out with the harness installed, still under warranty so I am not fussed. And since I added a 2011 848 Evo to the stable I have something to ride while the Buell is fixed. Ride the hell out of it and enjoy it and fix it when it needs it. If it is mechanical eventually it will break. |
