Stay with the stock muffler. Your head will appreciate it. I hope you do well and have fun. |

Anything having to do with beads and your butt is usually marketed to the freaky. Manxman, are you doing anything to your bike to increase range between fill-ups for fuel? |

ear plugs, ear buds and a mp3 player. Just did 700 miles in 14 hours it's rough. depending where you are warm and cold gear cooling vest from cycle gear is a life saver with mesh jacket if it's 90 or above. Rain gear. My 1125r does 160 miles between fill ups and if your riding around the speed limit your going to want off every hour and half anyways. I have a extra thick seat i had made by a local car upolster. The most important thing GOLD Bon your ass |

im going with a bunch of guys with 3 gallon tanks so ill be ahead of the game i figure 150 miles between fillups , so im looking at just under 18 hours and im in southern california . im really excited to show everyone you can tour on our sportbikes. although vibration in the handlebars does suck i ride 80 miles everyday to work and my hands go numb |

4-5 Oz of birdshot in a rolled-up ziplock in each bar will KILL the vibes. I rode home from Homecoming 08 straight thru, 1100 miles in around 20 hours. 2008 "R". Near the end I fell asleep for a second or two, be careful. Seeing dinosaurs on the highway woke me up... Z |

The only thing you really need is practice. While I'm yet to do a IBA Saddle Sore, I've done multiple 600+ mile days without any discomfort on my 1125R and CR. You just have to build up a tolerance to putting that amount of miles on in a short period of time. |

I, too, hope to do the 1000/24hour ride on my R sometime. But It'll take some time to work up to it as well as having some things to assist (some sort of throttle lock etc) |

Throttle lock and be sure to take breaks before you get sore. Once your sore, your sore the rest of the ride. I like to move around a lot while I ride to prevent getting sore. I dont have a throttle lock... Yet. Almost always, me getting sore on long rides, involves not being able to relax my right arm/hand. I will have one before my next road trip. Most Ive ever done on my r is 720 so I cant fully comprehend the full 1k. I do know Id never do it with a pipe without earbuds and music to keep the mind thinkin |

I'd recommend a tail bag. Second a ThrottleMeister. If you're hands, especially your right one, are going numb in 80 miles, you're gripping the bars instead of resting your hands around them. On my trip to Philly recently, I used it to "massage" my butt by rubbing up and down on it and side to side too. Funny to watch traffic behind you when you stand up while ridding. I'm sure most think there's a wheelie coming. |

"Get yourself is good physical condition" I agree with this, since starting the summer semester I've gotten in much better shape (took weight training to do one of two phys ed credits to get my AA), and could tell on a recent trip my back didnt hurt at all compared to other longer rides etc Plus being healthy is good in the long run of life. Someone above mentioned birdshot in the bars - Im interested in this, more information? And where do you buy birdshot at? |

For the Vibes, smaller shot is better. I used 4-5 oz #8 birdshot in each bar. NO vibes anymore. Use a heavy(20-30 mils) ziplock as the lead is conductive and can find its way into handlebar switches. Zack |

I did one in May of this year. I loved the scenery (went around Arizona). Arizona has great weather in May. However, I would not do that again on a motorcycle. I made the 1k miles in 18 hours or so but it was painful towards around 700 miles. I ended up having an arm muscle injury that is just healing right now due to too much time riding! That was on a VFR800! So on an 1125R...good luck. I would do the route again but next time I am driving! |
