My first battery lasted 2 years and over 10,000 miles. My next battery lasted about 5 months and my new battery only lasted about 2 weeks. What the hell???? I have an 08 R. Any thoughts? |

08 clusters cause parasitic draw. Get a tender |

Did you get the updates for the 08 done at all that address that issue? The cluster was one and another was an ECM flash. |

Do you use the kill switch to stop the motor ? always make sure the kill switch is used when parking up. |

Use a tender. Mine rotates on 2 bikes and a spare battery, it's always plugged in to one of them. Our batteries are 12 AH and SHOULD last 4-6 years with good treatment. Loretta has 27k miles and is still on the original battery. She was delivered to my door the 18th of December 2007. Z |

Have you actually had the batteries charged and tested to determine they're bad? The only thing I know that can kill a battery that fast is a bad voltage regulator over-charging it. |

Does your cluster have a gear indicator? I remember reading that the old clusters didn't and the non parasitic new ones did. |

According to HD, all of the flashes were done but I have since installed the e.b.r ECM so, that should not be an issue. If it is the IC, were can I get one? I have not seen one on the e.b.r web site. I did purchas a tender and I started using it but I don't think I should have to this early in the battery's life span. I don't understand why this is an issue now when the first battery lasted for over 10,000 miles. Weird! |

No, it does not have a gear indicator. 27,000 miles by using a tender? Well, looks like I am going to be using mine more frequently. |

If your bike is under warranty, you can get a new cluster for free. |

I wish that were the case. But, my warranty expired last October. :-( |
