I picked up a 2008 1125R on an Insurance auction site. It has less than 350 miles on it and was laid down on the left side. mostly road rash except for the shifter, footpeg and stator cover. There was a small crack in it and I got some alluminum weld and fixed it. Problem is it wont start there seems to be something in the motor resisting it from fully turning over. I tried another battery with the same results. any ideas? |

If the stator cover is cracked, perhaps it is also bent a little causing the stator to touch the rotor thus preventing the motor from turning. |

Would it be safe to assume that you have ensured the bike is in neutral and that you can roll it back and fore with no resistance? I think I'd definately have whipped the stator cover off kust to check things out before attempting to start the bike. You might also want to take a quick look at the BAS just to make sure it's in place properly - not that this would stop the motor from turning freely. You might also want to consider pulling the plugs and cranking the engine in case there's some hydraulic lock.... do it outdoors, and get a mate to hold rags in place over the plug holes if you do! |

make sure battery is fully charged? 08's are netorius for draining the battery just sitting there. |
