I was riding my 09 R last week when suddenly all instrumentation went dead, except for a "Voltage Failure" (I don't remember the exact phrase) warning. It was not displaying the actual voltage, just a warning phrase. I assumed my stator had failed, but wasn't positive because if I remember correctly when that happens the actual voltage displays. Was about 15 miles from home, and engine ran fine getting me back, and about the time I pulled into my driveway everything came back fine. I thought maybe loose battery cables but all is okay. My suspicion is a harness problem with the instrument console. When it was not working headlights were still on, engine ran fine, but console was completely dark and no speedo, tach, etc. Any ideas? Thanks! |

Voltage regulator. It is over volts and shuts the cluster off to protec it. If your out of warranty this is a good time to up grade it. |

CAN bus failure is my guess. When you lose the connection, your ECM to IC connection is open and ECM data from sensors cannot be displayed. |

I have 3400Km on the same RR. Working fine, I made a bracket and mounted mine under my left pod along side the oil cooler to get it in the air stream. |
