Anyone ever used copper anti seize on the rear axle?

The copper is more for high temp. situations.
No high temp. stuff dealing with the rear axle.
CAN...it be used....sure!

I just coat the whole thing in a light coat of grease.

I use to use grease for my bearings and that worked way better than anti seize in keeping the axle from trying to stick to them. Mike, do you use grease for the whole thing? Does it work each and every time?

I never put anything back together without copper anti-seize and can attest that over many years it will change taking something apart again from a drill & tap or heat and beat, to a ratchet removal. I have even used it on slip on exhaust connections, and been able to pull apart the same connection many years later. Just be careful if using it on threads with sensitive torque settings, as you will pre-stretch the fastener more than required at the same torque value vs. a dry and clean thread.

I change a lot of tires, on Buells
and all other brands. I don't like or
use any type of grease on axles, and
especially not never-seize materials. They
are sticky and messy. I clean off all
corrosion/rust, if any, and wipe
the whole axle w/a thin coat of motor oil.

Also, if a part gets really hot, like
exhaust flange bolts, Maalox withstands heat better that never-seize.

warning the FSM specifies using antisieze on the axles being that the arm is aly I would not use motor oil as it does not stay as well as anti sieze use grease on the tuber axles

Interesting, Olddog, as mfgs don't
bother to lube axles. I've had to
pound out several, including Buell,
with a heavy hammer and drift for
the first tire change.

For the last 20 years or so, motor oil
has worked fine, and I get a lot of repeat
customers...

The big problem is not an axle stuck in the swingarm,
but in the wheel bearing/spacers
