I ordered the over sized pulley, CR belt, rear sprocket and installed last night. I rode the bike today, all I can say is WOW it is a different bike. I ride the streets about 95% and the bike has better acceleration due to the gearing. I have to send my Erik Buell Racing ECU back to be re calibrated for the gear ratio change. For my kind of riding I felt the R was a over geared for the streets so I went with the CR gearing with my stock swing arm. I have owned the bike since March of this year and loving it! Matthew |

I honestly did not think it would make that much of a noticeable difference. I didn't want to spend money on a swing arm if I didn't have to. I can roll in the throttle at 2500 and the bike just takes off, no lugging at all. |

The stock CR pulley is MUCH larger than the R pulley. It reduces the gearing overall by ...damn... I can't remember. Old age sucks! Is it 12%? Regardless, I MUCH prefer the CR gearing to the R for real-world riding. Which is probably one reason why I own a CR...and not an R |

Yeah, I know all about the gearing difference. When I read the original post, I get the idea that the poster has a different idler pulley. I thought this is what he meant by "oversized pulley" since I assume he is calling the rear pulley the "sprocket". ac |

How many teeth was the stock belt? And what size belt did you have to buy? Thanks |

Do you really need that much more low down grunt ?? Mine with E BR ECM takes off from 35mph in 4th gear ? Had thought about trying the CR pulley but my front wheel spends enough time in the air as it is ? |

Avalaugh, I have both a CR and an R. It might be tough to get, but on the street I really do prefer the CR gearing. It allows you to run "a gear high" in most situations around my area. Cruising backroads ~50 is much nicer right around 5k in 3rd on the CR than it is at 6k in 2nd on the R or 4k in 3rd. I don't need to do 140+, heck I don't need 110+ on my CR...EVER. The torquier gearing is sweet. Methyman, That pulley looks great. How did you come up with the desired O.D.? ac |

I got it from one of the members on here. If you want I can give his information. Send me a pm and I will give it to you. He is a great and honest guy. Matthew |

I agree. I have both a R and CR, I prefer riding the R as the taller gearing feels right. Going down the Dragon, 2nd on the CR was too short, and 3rd on the CR was too tall. Going down it on the R, I left it I believe in 2nd just about the entire time and it was perfect. Also riding the CR over 50mph is a chore compared to the R, partly due to the gearing. One of these days I am going to accidentally break my shifter trying to find 7th on it! I do understand the desirability of the shorter gearing, but for me I honestly think even the R gearing is too short. |

how would one switch from cr gearing to r gearing, I hate to cruise on the interstate with my cr and soon I will have to be on it more often, it sometimes feels way to short. |

I regularly cruise 75 mph plus on my cr. Sure the motor is above 5k, but it doesn't seem to care to me. I find it easier to ride in the meat of the power at reasonable street speeds with the shorter gearing. On the track, the r is perfect. |

At highway speeds my R already feels like it is in the meat of its powerband or at least the meat of its torque curve. When I wack the throttle open in 6th gear at 70 mph, she just goes! |

Rogue, While that may be true, my cr takes off from 70 harder :-) Ac |

I prefer having shorter gearing than other Buell models, I have an S1 and a CR. 80% of my riding is urban, this fits my needs well. |
