Was browsing through photos and noticed the throttle was similar to R1. Anyone know whether the throttle is custom or off the shelf item?

Looks similar to an existing XB/1125 throttle, just rotated 90 degrees on the bar so the cables are forward instead of down, so they clear the tank/frame/airbox... |

the throttle looks to be independent of the electrics. |

Dannybuell - agree, which would make it differ from the Buell units |

They are using a lot of off-the-shelf premium bits. The dash is a motogadget (I think). The MCs accosato, the fuel cap is that German thing... Nothing wrong with using good off-the-shelf parts. I have no doubt it's an ordinary out-of-a-catalog throttle cable and engine kill switch set up. There's really no value in reinventing those parts. (Message edited by jdugger on July 20, 2011) |

Good Eventually you will hear an amazing story about it that will amaze and yield a heightened appreciation for what Erik Buell and the Elves have been doing. The mere fact that this bike even exists is nothing short of amazing. |

The above amazing quote comes from the Badweb Department of Redundancy Department. |

The initial question was not answered. Does anyone know where this throttle could be had? I have an 08 1125R that I have a Brembo radial master cylinder on and there is a clearance problem to get the brake lever in the proper position.I e-mailed Erik Buell Racing a few months ago about it and did not get a response. I know they are busy so I just let it go. I do not want to go through trial and error with different throttle setups. Anyone know exactly where I could find one? |

In a way I have the same question. I use the Brembo, too, and in my case I just wedged a banjo in there... |

Actually, there's a whole lot RIGHT with using off the shelf parts - Proven design - Minimal development costs - Readily available replacements - Replacements may be available from multiple sources - Replacements likely to be available if the cycle manufacturer isn't in business any longer Nothing wrong with using good off-the-shelf parts.} the cluster looks a whole lot more informative than ours (Message edited by sprintst on July 21, 2011) |

The problem with aftermarket is the lack of throttle cable set for Buell. |

Looks like the one on my Suzuki Vstrom (DL1000) the cable set is also very similar to the 1125r - chk out bike bandit for pix and part numbers...good luck |

custom made cables shouldn't be too hard to score |
