Boltrider is dead on (ish). There was a list of SPECIFIC changes allowed to make an 1125R an 1125RR. The hp difference was significant, but it wasn't quite up to the 1000CC I4 levels. http://www.motorcycle-usa.com/614/4048/Motorcycle- Article/Buell-1125RR-American-Superbike-Unveiled.a spx |

Sorry my bad with the R's... doesn't change that I didn't see any 600's take him on the straight. I agree with you AVC that on the track Eslick was in command... sort of. Its not like the team gave him a bike and then went to their box seats and watched him race though. it took input from him and them to put it all together to build a winner. They coach him at pits, on radios, during pre-race setups etc. Like Actors... who always get the headlines but when they win the oscar they thank the directors for getting that level of performance out of them. many a movie has been made with allstar actors that has been crap. Sports are no different.. Talent alone doesn't win you playoffs. And sometimes limited talent but good coaching can take you to the top. Eslick is good. Better than I will ever be for sure. And he has many years to get even better. But nothing will change my mind that it took a solidly experienced team to put him on the podium. |

"But nothing will change my mind that it took a solidly experienced team to put him on the podium." Not sure anyone is trying to argue that. If that is how I came across, not what I meant. Scroll up, a few posts ago I posted about a crew chief/rider relationship article. There have been some opinions expressed in this thread that "only Eslick" or "anyone" could have won that championship. It is the PERFECT combination of team/bike/rider to win a championship. Whoever has the best combo will win in a given year and run the #1 plate the next season. ac |

Tony, >>> I admit I don't know alot about racing. Dude, you don't know even a little, but I appreciate the humble admission. >>> To me '09 showed that the 1125RR had advantages over 600's. Of the few races I saw I cannot recall one where a 600 took a 1125RR on the straight. Then at a minimum you missed the races at Road America and Daytona, two of the fastest tracks in the series. While the 1125R had a little more power, it had much worse aerodynamics. It's advantage was in the start and on corner exits. It's disadvantage was its weight (thus tire wear/behavior) and aerodynamics. You must have also missed Danny taking Martin Cardenas and Jamie Hacking to school in the turns. >>> Eslick went from 10th and 11th place on a Suzuki to first on the Buell. That is highly misleading. The man finished 3rd in the AMA Formula Xtreme championship in 2005 behind Miguel Duhamel and Jake Zemke, the factory Honda riders. Danny had never had a full factory ride until joining the RMR/Geico/Buell team. Prior to last year, no one had won much of anything on a GSXR600 in AMA racing. Even Ben Spies couldn't manage much a performance on the bike. Danny also won the XR1200 championship last year while coming in a very close 2nd in DSB on... a Suzuki GSXR600. >>> That victory was not his alone. It was a combination of Bike, Race Team (RMR) and skill. Agreed! >>> RMR has been working/racing around HD's and Buells for a long time. That experience shows and got a 6yr rider to take the bike to its level like no-one else has yet. Never against the type of competition that RMR faced in DSB in 2009. It was HUGE step up for Richie. It was a huge test that he passed with flying colors. >>> Erik Buell Racing will get there. They are new and small with limited money. I tend to agree. >>> Like in most things teams win races. Not bikes, not riders but teams. Agreed, with the clarification that an advantage in one or the other can make the difference between a championship versus an also-ran. |

Kinder, >>> doesn't change that I didn't see any 600's take him on the straight. As I commented to Tony above, you obviously weren't watching many races, because it happened on multiple occasions. |

Maybe, but....you're here playing in his sandbox. A-hole, not a-hole...you should respect your host a little bit. Or maybe that's just the way I was raised... |

I was raised to bring about the new age of enlightenment and usher in the dawn of Aquarius. But I decided to hang out on the internet instead. The ushering thing is more of a part time gig. |

"I bailed;" No you didnt Court, youre still posting in it. I respect many things that you say - your insight on the company is leaps and bounds above almost everyone else that posts on this site. But I always think its funny when people say they are done with a thread/topic but continue to post in it |
