Well, my kick stand spring and bolts are somewhere on I-684. Anyone convert to track and have a set lying around? |

Is it under warrenty? Parts are around $30 at the dealership... for spring, arm, and a pin... |

Yes. It's under warranty, but I'd prefer spending the $30 to not have it at the shop for a week. |

Curious, is there any difference between the replacement parts and the originals that would decrease the possibility of it happening again? I think a buddy told me there was, but I'd like to know. If there is a difference, I might just buy the parts and do it. I would hate to be somewhere with no ability to get off the bike, other than leaning it against a nearby fencepost. |

Oh you can get off the bike. It was just the spring and spring mount that went. The kick stand was still there floating freely. Anything above 40 mph has enough wind to push the stand out of the way. I didn't notice until I stopped for gas. |

I had a similar problem. Gearing down for a stop light I noticed a weird knocking noise. Knew right away something is wrong. I pulled over and looked down. The kick stand was down and flopping around. Closer inspection revealed a broken side stand spring. All the parts were still attached, just dangling there. Did I take that last left turn too sharp? Did I leave my stand down and ride off? Not really sure what would cause the spring to fail like it did. There was no evidence on the stand of any scrapping or rubbing. As a result of bending over to inspect the stand while holding the bike up with my left leg, I managed to twist my back pretty good. Guess it could have been a lot worse. For now, I keep a ready supply of zip ties in my pocket. I jip tie the stand up and just break it off when I put the stand down. I am waiting for a new spring to come in the mail. Could I trouble someone to post pictures of their kick stand with spring? I can't really tell what I'm missing. The parts catalog has several pieces that I don't think were ever part of the assembly. |

Meth, Thanks. That's what the parts manual looks like, but on the '09 it doesn't seem like that bracket applies. Can anyone with an '09 verify that the bracket is still a part of the kick stand assembly? |

Yep, my 09 looks like that too.. My spring snapped last year, I bought a replacement kit from Australia and it arrived quicker than the kit from HD... |
