I don't see how you can possibly make a rule like that. Lets say the bike cannot be sold for $50k, and tomorrow the stock market crashes and the price of the bike goes through the roof, Erik Buell Racing wouldn't be able to race because dealers are charging $90k for it? Makes absolutley no sense. Anyway, the rules clearly say retail price, not the price including dealer markups, sales tax, interest, frieght, prep, registration, inspection, etc. |

>>>I just checked. There are 23 registered BadWeBrs showing that they live in OKC. You could probably charge admission. >>> 23, I would've never imagined that. Hey motorstorm, send me a pm if u get bored on the base & want to take your 1125 out to stretch. I have yet to ride my xb9r with either of those bikes. |

Dannybuell- its true it is 180hp...at the crank, the Erik Buell Racing 1190RS is 175hp AT THE WHEEL. Never ceases to amaze me how they can pull power out of the engine! Jake |

Pricing vs MSRP...Last I heard we operate in a free market economy...What is something worth??? The answer is "How bad do you want one". A local motorcycle shop has in inventory two of their newly introduced 250cc street bikes...the bikes have an MSRP of $3,995.00. When you go to the dealership and look at one of them, the sign says "will be sold to the highest bidder"...Illegal? NO...unethical? NO...free market economics at work. Want something as exclusive as a first run 1190rs??? Pony up...they don't sell them at WalMart. |

So if most of the bikes being built this year are going to be the carbon edition, doesn't that mean from a collector stand point the cheap version will be the one to get. Kind of like 60 Fords with a R code. |

Do you have a source for that? The website just says 175hp, which typically indicates crank shaft the Erik Buell Racing 1190RS is 175hp AT THE WHEEL |

The street 1190RS with double muflers is not 175 at the rear wheel, that is crankshaft HP. It is 160 RWHP. |

This MSRP talk should be over by now & I had no idea this spilled over to homologation nonsense. Free market allows whatever price a dealer wants as he committed to the bike. I'm all for market prices. But if you are placing an order to the manufacturer through a dealer, I think it's not outrageous to expect MSRP as the dealer has no value they have to commit to in the transaction. fwiw, got tickets booked & going to Laguna Seca. Woot-Woot!!! |

That's a reasonable position Peyote. The only other factor I can think of is perhaps the scarcity thing. Not everyone could become an Erik Buell Racing dealer, they had to prove themselves somehow, *and* take some initiative. As a result, they are a very exclusive dealer with access to a very exclusive bike. That may (or may not) be worth something... the free market will speak and we will find out! |

Bet I could cook up a muffler for that one and get close to 175 at the wheel. Wouldn't be EPA compliant though.

http://lebanon-pennsylvania.olx.com/2012-buell-ebr -1190rs-iid-224736967 Looks like white's dropped the price below MSRP. Looks like the free market is working indeed. $42,495 I'm getting #27 soon. Just waiting on paperwork. Probably drive up & trailer it back from East Troy. (Message edited by peyote on July 30, 2011) |
