"Should be fun to watch." No doubt about that is there? And I wish I was there to hear a pair of twins, (the Erik Buell Racing1190RS & the KTM RC8R), at full throttle down a straight or powering up through the gears out of a turn. I am tired of all the high winding inline four screams. Tuning in here Sat. & Sun night on the TV with the surround sound maxed out. Bob |

Having seen motorcycle racing ebb and flow . . . I think it's very cool to see new bikes on the grid and increasing interest, A rising tide lifts all boats. |

How can i see the action you guys have in the states on TV here in the UK ?? Motors TV on Sky shows the Speed TV coverage of AMA Superbike races around 7-14 days after the event. Be warned, the commentary team is pretty awful if you are used to watching Eurosport or BBC race coverage, so turn the sound down and just watch the racing! |

Agreed, but SBK announcer Jonathan Greene is not just bad but completely annoying! His grating high pitched nasal delivery and banal analysis, literally makes me cringe. He is the main reason I don't follow WSBK. |

If you're in the UK and have Sky, then Motors TV are showing the Mid Ohio AMA superbike races on 21st and 22nd July - according to their schedule. |

Great shots How come the clutch lever on the Buell is so much further out than the KTM? Could be losing seconds from every shift and that might directly affect speed unless he speed shifts. |

Anyone else listen to the commentators, almost everytime they mentioned Geoff's bike it was described as "Buell" not "Erik Buell Racing" maybe once every ten times they actually said "Erik Buell Racing" |

Kruizen - Every time he said 'Buell' I could hear a badweb moderators rant. |

>>>Anyone else listen to the commentators, almost everytime they mentioned Geoff's bike it was described as "Buell" not "Erik Buell Racing" maybe once every ten times they actually said "Erik Buell Racing" It's understandable and forgivable. There is instantly a thread underway here on Badweb where members harboring disparate opinions can't agree. The media is, I am confident, aware of the difference and time, and success, will invite greater attention and attention to detail. "Buell" worked find for the old Buell Motor Company . . worked for Buell Motorcycles and it'll do nicely for Erik Buell Racing as long as it continues to so frequently precede the word WOW. |

I noticed that Geoff himself called the motorcycle the E-B-R 1190RS (not the Erik Buell Racing 1190RS) in the short segment on the bike before the first race (which was pretty cool by the way). Didn't Erik say a few months back that he hoped that E-B-R would eventually become a well-known acronym like BMW? |

Could be losing seconds from every shift " Hes a professional racer, I am sure he's not spending multiple seconds on shifting the bike |

Don't they run speedshifters that cut the ignition by tapping the shift lever thus not needing the clutch or are those not allowed in this series? |

even if they arent running them, i doubt he's using his clutch for upshifts, its wasted time, hes not ignorant. I know we're all Buell fans, but lets not grasp at silly ideas of why they didnt do better this past weekend like how far out his clutch lever is compared to the ktm..... |

Hybrid Is this not a free and open forum? Do you pay my internet bill every month? You have to down shift as much as you shift! Don't act like your all mighty and can control what I do and say. Your a control freak! Go see somebody for your issues so you can grow as a human and be part of society where we freely exchange ideas. (Message edited by 1125rcya on July 11, 2011) |

How come the clutch lever on the Buell is so much further out than the KTM? Could be losing seconds from every shift and that might directly affect speed unless he speed shifts. Riders will adjust the levers to exactly where they want them and where they feel comfortable. I'm pretty sure that the position of the clutch lever won't waste any time. If it did at this level then you need a new rider! Not sure about the 1190, but modern quickshifters and slipper clutch technology mean that many bikes only use the clutch for the start of the race. After that it is clutchless changes up and down. |

If you think that having non optimal shifting only costs you the time lost doing the actual shifting, you are either not very bright or you are being disingenuous. There are narrow optimal windows to execute the shift, so if you miss them, you loose a lot more than the extra 750 milliseconds longer it took to execute. And racing, to a large degree, is about managing task loading. So fighting your equipment costs you everywhere all the time. It's the difference between doing a 30 minute math test in a quiet room by yourself, and doing a thirty minute math test listening to Brittany Spears songs where you have to push a button every 30 seconds and if you forget somebody shoots you in the back with a paintball gun. Professionals are professionals because they can manage the problems, but if the problems weren't problems, they wouldn't be called problems, it'd be the way the bikes are run. |

I really am not sure where that came from at all. Youre free to do or say whatever you want, but I'll stand by what I said when stating that if youre grasping at silly reasons to 'excuse' the performance of the 1190 this weekend. As for me going to see someone about my 'issues'....it sounds like youre the one with problems, some sort of complex where maybe your wife is overcontrolling or something, I dont know. I dont care. But I am really confused about the controllng part and paying your internet bills and all that jazz. "You have to down shift as much as you shift! " Wrong - youll likely only downshift as much as you upshift, not 'as much as you shift' I am not all mighty, but I stick to my guns on this one - they arent falling behind the KTM because their levers stick out more than the KTM. Like another poster wrote - he probably has it there because that is where it is comfortable for him. Maybe he has larger hands than Filmore, I dont know. But Im looking forward to more posts from you in like the one above, it was hilarious! |

Why would anyone need to "excuse" an 11th and 10th place finish in a premier national event on the premier outing? |
