Thus far the best solution I have yet to see put forward seems to be rewinding the stator to 08 specs. One question though.. Could you expand on "rewound to 08 specs". Seeing how the number of poles per leg (ie phase) on the two stators is different, how can one REALLY rewind to 08 standards. Are you gunning for wattage (so simply lessening the number of windings per coil). Also are people increasing the gauge of the wire (say from 14ga -> 12ga). What have the rewinding shops had to say about the shape of the stators coming their way from 1125 owners, had the copper in the windings failed, or just the insulation, both? (this I think would be a pretty key piece of info I have yet to read one thing about) One would think the rewinding shops would take one look and be able to deduce a plausible resolution (super high temp insulator + heavier gauge wire, less windings/pole etc etc). Thoughts? |

Posplayr also an EE has been tutoring us here. Use the google site search 'Posplayr stator'. Much of your comments have only recently surfaced, larger wire and better epoxies. Powdercoating over epoxies have also been discussed but not sourced. |
