I just had my stator replaced with a rewound stator from custom rewind at 08 specs and left my harness in. Charging is fine 13.5 to 14.0. Should I still remove it or just leave it be? And if it needs removed could someone give me a link to the simple removal thread please. Thanks in advance. I hope this is soon over! |

Eliminate the harness and you'll eliminate another link in the chain of problems (you don't have to worry about the relay going out). Your voltage might be higher with this removed too. |

I have removed my harness with a rewound stator done out here is OZ .. I noticed that when the harness kicked in .. the Voltage was a bit low .. for normal operation .. 11.8 - 12.2 from memory .. didnt say in more than 2 rides .. All good for me since. |

The goal of the harness is to keep the stator cool. The 09 stator creates too much heat when the bike is below 5k rpms, so the harness disconnects one of the three legs, which keeps the stator cool, but doesn't allow the battery to charge. If you are at 08 specs, then you shouldn't have heat issues and therefore do not want the harness, because when it kicks in it will really drop the voltage on an 08 spec stator. |

I have a custom rewind stator and I removed my harness.... 4000miles ago Just checked the stator's output today and all 3 legs are >50 VAC when RPM is >5000 |

It should work fine, without the harness. 08-10 R/R, wiring and Battery are the same. Charging System is: Stator, Rotor, wiring, R/R, Battery. I have an 08 with 27k miles and no electrical issues from day one(18DEC07). Zack (Message edited by zac4mac on July 08, 2011) |
