Sending off my exhaust to have ceramic coated and the stator cover to have sprayed with a new coating. Ill let you know how it goes. Here is the website if anyone is interested. Anything to help keep temps down.

Whoa there. Wouldn't coating the stator cover keep the heat IN? It's not the exhaust that would cook it, but the engine heat.

OP is getting the headers thermal coated but the stator cover will be coated in a thermal 'dispersant.' It's a coating that promotes heat dispersion. Effectively making the cover act a bit more like a heat sink to try and pull heat away from the stator.

yikes... yes, ceramic coated exhaust systems keep the heat in!

...may want to try this - back in the day (Vietnam-era) - sprayed gun barrels with it to disperse heat...I use it on my vintage race bike (air cooled 2 stroke)...gotta have a clean dry surface - works best if you can bake it (no not in wifey's oven!)

good luck

How much are they charging? Interesting to see pics also when you get them back.

Yes only the headers will be ceramic coated, the stator cover will have the dispersant on it, the guy quoted me 30-35 bux which seems quite reasonable.

I had the header on one of my bike ceramic coated by performancecoatings. They did a quality job at a reasonable price. I highly recommend them.

That being said, I can't wrap my head around the "thermal dispersant" on the stator cover... Are you having the inside or outside coated, or both? If the outside, it makes some sense, but if the inside, it doesn't make sense (to me). The heat has to go somewhere.

I do applaud your effort. Most all of us are worried about the stator issue and hoping for a miracle cure.

Just the outside, yea coating the inside wouldnt be much help, I also hope to make some sort airflow duct or channel when I get some time. Hopefully I can get everything sent out this weekend.

maybe we should just weld some cooling fins to the stator cover
