The dealer didn't route the stator lead through the engine harness support. How do I correct this? | ||

Here is what I recall having read. First see if the plastic tube that the stator wires were in is still in the harness support. if it is then you will need to see if you can push a wire through this tube. once you have a wire through then tie/tape one of the three stator wires to the end and draw it through. It might be best to loop the wire around and attach it to itself so you don't have to thread it through again each time you pull another stator wire through. Once you have all three through you can re-insert them into the connector. Removing the wire from the connector is easy, just use needle nose pliers to pull the orange plastic lock out, then use a small screwdriver to flex the grey plastic tab at the side of each terminal, out just enough to release the terminal, pull the wire and terminal out of the connector. Don't worry about what position each of the wires came from as it doesn't matter if they go back the same way or not. Just don't remove the little plug that blocks the fourth position. You will need to be very patient pulling the stator wires through as the terminal tend to get stuck at each bend. Hope this helps. Cheers | ||

No, the tube is also out of the engine harness support. The dealer just didn't route it correctly. Service manual says to use mechanics wire, when you pull the wire down, but I don't think it will help now, as the wire is out of the support. | ||

There's a hard turn in the wiring (harness) cover that the harness is designed to go thru. That makes it difficult to get the harness out and even more difficult to get back in place. After seeing the "not required" sharp turn in the manual of the plastic cover and the sharp edges where two pieces meet at that hard corner, and realizing the difficulty in pushing/pulling the harness out the first time...three things came to mind. 1. Stretching a wire is a bad thing. 2. I will most likely have to do this again, stretching wires "twice" is really bad. 3. It's a pure waste of time and effort to locate a harness run into this crappy plastic cover. This type of cover should be designed with a smooth run. So if there just "happens" to be a problem and some wiring needs to be removed, it's a clean, smooth, easy, non-harmfull to the harness protective plastic cover. So...when I did mine, I didn't even consider putting the stator harness back where it's supposed to be. It's easy to make it "look" like it's in position though. This way, it'll just take minutes to replace my next stator...! Mike | ||

Mike, do you think it's OK, that it touches the rear cylinder head? It's now routed adjacent to the rear cylinder. No that I see it from outside, but I was thinking that it'll be too hot for the wires. |
