I've been meaning to do this forever... got it done this morning.

Here's why I like the drop the caliper procedure vs. remove the front fender...

< 20 minutes for both wheel swaps with safety wire...

Hey Jim, Where did you get the fasteners for the safety wire?
Ditto on the torque wrench.

The torque wrench is made by CDI. I don't know the specific model, it's a 3/8" drive with a 1-100 ft-lb range. I'm a bit of a "spare-no-expense" guy on tools. I've been hurt by tools breaking and frustrated by tools sucking enough times now I go for the good stuff.

For the caliper fasteners, I have a cheap solution and an expensive one.

Cheap: McMaster bolt and threaded spacer, loc-tite red together: 90117A626 + 96439A800

For a insignificant amount of unsprung and yet more significant wallet weight reduction, you can have some custom machined. The guy that did mine has a web-site: http://www.wreproducts.com/index.html Basically, I sent him one of these McMaster assemblies and told him to cut the exact same thing out of one piece of Ti, using a socket drive instead of a socket cap.

J: Next time you have the camera out can you take some pics of how you safety wired the rear and front axles and calipers? Do you have longer hardware with spacers?

He mentions that in the post above yours, even has part numbers for the caliper bolts and spacers.

J- my only question is about the fact that the supplied part numbers are for std hardware, I'm surprised they are not metric?

The ZTL-2 caliper mount bolts are 3/8-16, just as the passenger peg bolts are.

Race bike front:

I"ll post up the stock/B bike in a couple of days when I get chance to take pictures. It will be a couple of weekend before I'm back on the race bike.

An excellent reference. This should be in the new owners area.
