It's really hard to decide where exactly to post this (I mean, throw a rock for an appropriate thread), but I feel it should be out here, documented somewhere, and this thread is pretty active at the moment so..... Just got off the phone with the dealer and confirmed stator #3 ordered for me along with new battery. I actually told them I wanted a new battery cause I feel it's taking a beating with all this low voltage crap (at this point I just walk right back through the service department and to the Mech/Tech, It's sad, but they know how I like my coffee there). This is defiantly, without a doubt, undeniably, a cooked stator that lived it's entire life on the Harness "fix", so we can put all that HD denial to bed... I am going to ask for a full history service report on my bike when I pick it up this time, just to start keeping all documentation about this to have for whatever reason. The service writers exact words were "damn, those things aren't cheap either, it's like 800 bucks all in, you'd think they would want to get it fixed". Although they can only use the tools allotted them and follow Harley guidelines for service, I am blessed to have a great dealership to work with and know I am lucky in that regard (see post :http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/290 431/637818.html?1308261516). I have 5 more years of warranty, so I did a little math today.... $800 pr year x 3 visits a year = $2,400 $2,400 pr year x 5 years = $12,000 that's just me, and just fixes related to stator issues...

My 2nd and 3rd stator were both after the harness fix as well. Really does seem they are willing to ride out the warranty periods and accept the cost of fixing the stators rather than offer a fix. Lets get on this oil jet! Fingers are crossed, hoping for a response from E B R. |

Well HD is only paying 50 cents for the stator. Not sure if Harley has to pay dealers full labor costs for warranty work. |

I have to say, the "oil jet" is not a new concept. My friend and fellow buller was directed this way almost a year ago by a race car driver friend (I have a few links to actual products and reviews / recommendations etc etc... I'll try to see if I have them logged in my email and post in a new thread soon). I guess my thing is, I polish turds on a daily basis, I hate it! If the "foundation" is not right, properly designed/calibrated part to begin with (as in the stator itself), It's never really gonna be right...... I despise 'half-ass" and "band aids"... |

I have some bad news My battery light came on yesterday with a newly reinstalled custom rewind stator that has about 700 miles on it! It dipped to 11.9 volts. Before yesterday it was staying at 13.5 or higher. The thing that worries me is the volts were always in the 13-13.5 range the stator was supposed to be less powerful but now im getting higher voltage readings. Anyway yesterday When cruising down the interstate it dipped to 11.8 and by the time I got home it was at 12.3. Is it most likely going bad or could that of been a little glitch??? |

George check your ac voltage. Leg to leg should be over 50. You may have a R/R problem if your getting high voltages on your instrument cluster |

can someone please tell me the specs i need to get my stator rewound. I'm thinking staying with the 09 spec (what ever that is) and getting a compufire regulator. I live in Perth Australia so at a guess the rewind shop won't have a clue what the specs are cheers. |

charged the bike last night, it was at 12.1 when i left my driveway. got up to 12.4 and then it started plummeting it got down to 11.2 even with me keeping it above 6k rpm's. COuld this be from a bad battery??? and whats a r/r |

Im not quite sure how to read the volt meter but i hooked it up one leg is steady when gas is applied it doesn't fluctuate but it has the highest reading, the other two were kind of low on the gauge but when i applied throttle they dropped rapidly almost like they were discharging the bike??? what could this be??? |

R/R would be the Voltage Regulator. |

Charged battery and went out for another ride and it got all the way up to 13.8 and then start plummeting down to 12.6 when i pulled in my driveway this was ride was about two miles long. |

George, I would say your stator is shot. If you are in warranty get it to a dealer. If not, pull your stator and if it looks all cooked, get it rewound. If it was just your regulator, the volts would be all over the place. It could still be bad too, but since your system is just draining your battery, your stator is definitely not working. |

George, you really need to learn how to use the voltmeter to properly diagnose the stator. Google is your friend. |

Lunatic- and whoever else cares the factory specs on an '09 stator for the 1125R are; AC voltage output-38 amp three phase, stator coil resistance 0.1-0.3 Ohms. Regulator specs voltage @ 3600 RPMs-14.3-14.7 @VDC@24 degrees C, (75F) Amps @ 3600 RPM 45 amps 3 phase shunt. My '09 1125R had the Regulator problem and cooked stator at 2400 miles, all but about the first 600 miles w/ the harness upgrade. I agree this is a half ass attempt by someone to band-aid fix the problem. Several other Japanese models and otherwise in the past have had these same issues... All but 2 of my spools on the stator were toasted black when I pulled it. I sent it to Custom Rewind in Alabama, nice people, repaired, on its way back now, for $140.00 including shipping, a bargain if you ask me. I opted for the Compufire Regulator. Jim @ Spike Inc. is researching the problem and making me a 55402 (?)regulator with the Bosch plugs that came on the Buell. I haven't got it back yet, but he has been patient and listened to me on the phone and I should it have it back in another week or so. If you order a regulator from Spike just be a little patient its a small company, but I figure it can't be any slower than HD. They'll have the bike all summer w/ back ordered insufficient parts that will fail due to the same problem. When I do get the parts back, I'm going to relocate the regulator as I had Jim at Spike make the wires an extra 6" long to facilitate relocation. The regulator is inefficient and dying from heat, it gets no airflow in the location its in. At least that's what i think from everything I read here and from what I've gotten out of listening to some other folks. Anyway, we shall see. |

It was a faulty voltimeter I bought a new one and it was reading 50 volts on one leg 38 on the other and only 10 on one. So i will pull it out tomorrow to check the damage. could the r/r cause the stator to go bed |
