Hey guys I'm having my 2009 stator rewound to a 2008 spec. My concern That if my bike only runs 2 legs it wont have make enough power to run the bike and charge the battery. Am I wrong?? |

I'm pretty sure you will have to remove the harness if you go to 08 specs . I will be doing this in the next couple of days too. I can't wait to hear more about this subject because i'm in the same boat. |

I would not care to run an 08 spec stator with only 66% output... I've got an 08 and I have to manage my electrical system a bit - I can't just leave my high beams on and go, I have to cycle them off if I'm at low RPM or stopped. Even with this, voltage drops down at an idle. If it indicates below about 12.0V on an 09 cluster, the bike starts getting unhappy (TPS not getting enough voltage, I think). On really hot days with the fans on max, I sometimes have to bump the RPM up a bit to help keep the voltage up if I'm sitting in traffic. So, I wouldn't suggest an 08 stator with the harness fix. |

Danggg Im not looking forward to that!!!! Why? It's a 5 minute single handed operation...literally.. there's even an instructional video on removing the harness whilst holding the camera... |

This is why your 1125 idles at 1500rpm, to keep your stator cooler when in a slow/stopped situation. Will you be loosing some recharge during this time? Yes you will. But unless you are sitting with the throttle at 3000rpm's or more, you won't be holding a steady state of charge on the battery while in a slow/stopped situation. |

The next mod (rear spring replacement doesn't count) will be the 08 flywheel and stator with compufire reg. I will let you know how things go. But for me, having a battery that goes dead will/would be a pisser. having a stator that goes sizzle is worse and makes the bike to unreliable to take on a trip. Unreliable equals unacceptable in my book. |
