That's the problem. I have money in PP not in the account. I will be placing an order with you for some touch up paint soon though. As always, I appreciate everything you do for us Buell owners Al. I went ahead and placed an order with my local Buell/HD shop. They were willing to order without a full CC payment. Thanks anyway! |

It snapped. Not sure why. Inspection shows one little tear on one tooth about two teeth from the break and some chew marks on about a half dozen teeth on the other side. Maybe I picked up a stone. But I can see that the back of the belt has micro-cracks or fissures all over it. Probably just wore out (30K miles). |

Had you removed any of the belt guards? |

Look at the insides of your belt guards, where the belt guides are... |

Thanks for the tip. I have two belts on the way. When it rains it pours. I'm going to carry a spare and the tools I need from now on. Not that I have anything against pedestrians...I just don't want to be one |

damage to the guard itself im sure particularly the metal track on the bottom guard that if bent or damaged could easily shred a belt |

Exactly, boog. In my case, somehow the belt's sway under a light down shift snagged the edge of the Al guard and it sliced right into the belt, cutting it. |

Well I received the belt at 10:45 and here it is 11:41 and it's on. It did not take an hour, but I had to get into some work clothes, trot down to the shop and rustle up the tools and get cleaned up afterward (it was about 93f). No need for a lift. I just followed the excellent tutorial linked above. Removed the shift lever, all the guards and took the peg assembly off as one piece with the idler wheel attached. Removed the little fender and the swing arm shim and put the engine in neutral to spin the front pulley around so I could slip the belt on. I put the belt over the rear pulley without loosening the axle. I attached the peg/idler assembly using the front-most bolt and was nearly able to lift it up into position. But not quite. I then loosened the pinch bolt and loosened the axle just enough that the wheel could move forward a smidge. Then it was cake, using the peg as a handle I levered the assembly into position and refastened it. Then reattached all the guards. No signs of wearing, rubbing or other damage on the lower guard metal reinforcement piece. Aside from getting sweaty it was easy stuff. Now it's time to ride! Thanks for all the help!
