So I was wondering who had done any engine mods for power. I have some plans but I need to save up money or deploy. As I'm a government contractor, however that won't be for 9 more months! Damn HERNIA!!!!

Anyways, my mods I am thinking about is pulling the heads and having them ported(maybe polished), and decking them some. I would have to do some measurements first to see how far I can/wanna take them. Throw in the velocity stacks from twinmotorcycles and my HPE race pipe. Tuning via Erik Buell Racing ECM or a PowerCommander V with the Autotuner. Or both! Bits that's me thinking Erik Buell Racing to get close and the PCV to do the fine tuning.

Anyways, would like to here the mods and see them if you got the pics.

I'd suggest emailing Erik Buell Racing when you have the time. They offer machine work if I'm not mistaken.

If you have all the motor work done, you would likely need to order their complete tuner kit and bring it to an experienced tuner, or just bring them your whole bike when you're finished assembling to have them tune it.

There aren't many who have gone down the road you're suggesting. Puzzled and Easyrider are the ones I'm sure of.

Here's a link to Puzzled's current build:

Easyrider is Dris at Twinmotorcycles. Check out their website for info on motor work.

Hope that helps!

We used a PC-V on a customers 1125 AFM race/track bike and it works great--if you don't mind missing the O2 sensors.

What those guys are doing is awesome! But I don't have that much of a budget. If I could get up to East Troy that would be awesome, one to get the one off tune, and two have the opportunity to meet Erik and the team. If not, it would be great to get the full tuner and ECM from them. I know I could tune it with the help of Lowcountry H-D Buell tech, Mike, and there dyno. I was trained at MMI, and took all of Harley and Buell too include the Screaming Eagle classes (engine building and tuning on the dyno). It's just the cost of it all! I'm not trying to do a overhaul on it. I'm just looking for a little bit higher compression and little better flow. Trying the old tricks that have proven to be effective in the past.

Decked heads (roughly .020), nominal timing, full exhaust, and race ecm should get you to high 140s or very low 150s.

Ask Erik Buell Racing for a "DSB-Spec" motor build.

I've got a motor putting that kind of power to the rear wheel through the belt drive...

Just a hint, if you don't have much money...you won't be doing any head porting...!
A very expensive proposition.

Plus...you can polish the exhaust if you so desire, but you'll loose power/driveability if you polish the intakes..!

it'll be nice once the GDI hits bikes for real and polishing the intake will be a good thing
