Apparently the service manual indicates part# B-48857 which it calls an "Alternator remover tool" according to my friend who presently has the bike and my service manual. I called my preferred HD shop and the guy I talked to didn't have that tool listed and couldn't locate a service manual to check. Their Buell tech was out when I called and they're not open today. Can anybody clue me in? Even better would be if you have the tool and I can borrow/rent it from you. I'll gladly pay shipping in both directions and a reasonable rental fee. My bike's been down more than 2 months. I'm missing out on some great riding. I probably could have hit 70,000 miles by now if not for this issue. Thanks in advance, Paul |

I pretty sure this tool is available from Erik Buell Racing. However, the site is down due to 1190 production so I can't check. |

I could only find two tools currently on the ebr shop site. One is a crankshaft locking tool and the other is a camshaft locking tool. Part number on the crankshaft tool is b-48858-a which is also required for the repair. Sorry I don't have one of the removers you could use though. It does look kind of like a power steering pump pulley remover. I would not recommend "trying" to make something work though. Good luck, hope you get out riding soon. |

I just replaced my stator and did not use any special tools. I did grind off 6 bolt heads to work as dowels to facilitate line up the gasket and cover. Check out the FAQ ultimo did, its pretty complete. Except you do not have to keep the 3 stator wires in any particular order. todd |

Rotor removal is a whole different deal |

FYI the rotor is fine... It's the starter clutch gear and/or flywheel which are not fine. Apparently the stator must be removed to get to the flywheel. Thanks all; I guess I'll just have to wait for Erik Buell Racing to resume taking/fulfilling orders. |

Mike, you may have saved my bike... Is this the right one? http://www.bikebandit.com/dennis-stubblefield-flyw heel-rotor-puller-42mm-x-1-5 Erik Buell Racing responded already but said they don't sell OE parts and I must contact the dealer. I already tried that and they're inept. :-( |

Paul - Everything's active, ie not on backorder.Sprag housing is Y0536.1AM. I can look tomorrow at prices, mine aren't the best, but I'm a lot quicker than Chicago. If you want, shoot me an e-mail at - parts@highcountryharley.com I can do paypal or VISA/MC etc over the phone, ship out UPS Ground, u-get-it in 2-3 days. Ooops forgot the important part - I doubt we have them on the shelf, so an order usually takes about a week. Once WE get it, then 2-3 days... Z (Message edited by zac4mac on May 25, 2011) |

Caught my sprag clutch failing in its infancy thanks to you guys. If anyone needs a puller and crank lock tool I'd be happy to lend it out in appreciation |
