My rear master cylinder is sticking on my 08 R, has anyone upgraded their rear master cylinder to a Brembo? I found the Brembo part number for an upgraded caliper but can't seem to find anything for the master. TIA. |

I've had no trouble like that but have read of a few that have. I think Jim Dugger, who races, has gone to Brembos on the rear and on the front M/C. Also one of the Brits, John? Check your adjustments and make sure it's bedded. If you run a stock exhaust, try dragging the brake a little when you start out. The OEM exhaust tends to deposit water and soot on the disc. Hope some of this helps... My rear brake works just fine for my needs. One thing I noticed early on - there is a boss on the clutch cover that my foot kept hitting when I wanted brake. I extended the peg with a 1/2" spacer and solved the problem. Z |

Yep I fitted a Brembo rear master cylinder, it has the same mounting hole spacing and top exit side entry as the Buell OEM unit, make sure you buy a banjo bolt from Brembo as the threads are not the same, the Brembo unit also can be purchased with their link rod. A good upgrade over the OEM rear brake caliper is a Brembo Goldline unit but the rear brake hose again needs a Brembo banjo bolt at the caliper end. I have also fitted a Brembo RCS radial master cylinder to the front brake with very good results - I am at work at the moment but will try to get the Brembo part numbers and post next week. The next mod is to fit a return spring to the rear brake pedal. Just checked my PC - The Brembo rear master cylinder was part number 10477660 from Bike Torque Racing here in the UK, not sure if that is a Brembo part number or their in house number. > I think Jim Dugger, who races, has gone to Brembos on the rear and on the front M/C. I replaced the front MC, but my rear brake is totally bone stock. I'd like to upgrade the rear caliper to reduce the weight, but haven't done it yet. I did have a rear MC seize as well. I didn't notice it, actually, but the dealer I had do a valve job on my stock/B bike did when they took it for a test ride. It was replaced under warranty, and I've not touched it since |

Thanks for the help guys, that party number from Dirty John is a Brembo number. I found the caliper part number via his earlier post. The brake has worked fine for me so far, bedded in well and worked great. I can feel the cylinder starting to stick, so I plan to swap it before it goes south. |

Brembo master, caliper, and banjo bolts ordered along with a spare set of rear pads. Now to wait for parts. |

"Brakes are not for girls", what a stupid thing to say, sounds like someone is not riding hard enough and haven't some people learnt to use the rear brake to adjust cornering lines? |

It was a joke. Lighten up Francis. Geez! >>> "use the rear brake to adjust cornering lines" Really unwise. Try using the handlebars. |

I got my brake parts in on Saturday, the caliper looks beautiful, but the master is not so simple. The master cylinder has a pushrod cup, and I need one set up for a clevis. I'm still researching my options on this, will update as I go. |

Suggest you get the Brembo link rod for the specific master cylinder, on my 09 1125R this was a direct replacement for the OEM unit |

My master cylinder just went out yesterday on my '08 at about 7K miles. Still under warranty so I'm just letting H-D replace it. However, if I have problems again, after the warranty, I'll be checking out Brembo. Or I'm I reading Dirty Johns post right, that H-D might be replacing it w/a Brembo as OEM? |
