So, I went to Northern Ohio Ducati to get a baseline pull on my bike. Those guys are really great btw. Stan was the tech. When he asked what I expected I told him that most bikes seem to pull about 120 stock. He was pretty excited because this was the first water cooled Buell they had in. I heard him do four pulls and it hit the limiter a lot quicker than I expected. A few minutes later Stan came out. "Jim, you've got a healthy motor there." "Really?" "It pulled over 130" "SWEET!" I tried to post the power and torque graphs here, but even using the "\image" deal and compressing them I couldn't get it to work. Stupid forum. Anyhow, it pulled 131.25 hp and 74.1 lb/ft. and the AFR was running 12 to 12.5 above 5000 rpm. I know, different dynos (this is a DynoJet) and conditions etc and yes I take these numbers with a grain of salt. I am more interested in the gains when I get on the exhaust and ECM, but that still is pretty cool. We were both surprised at how rich it was running especially since he didn't expect to be able to get the sniffer in far enough to get a reliable reading. My theory is that it was 50 degrees out and a good half hour ride to the shop. Then sticking it in about a 70 degree room it would read a little rich wouldn't it? Of course that would account for the power output too. The AFRs are reading 105 front and 110.5 rear. Stan expressed real interest in doing some tuning to see how good it could be. We will see, but I can't wait to get on the exhaust and see what happens. |
