I'm heading to the local 1/8th mile drag strip tonight. Anyone have any tips for getting quicker 60ft times? I have to the ride the bike there and back, so I wont be dropping the tire pressure below 20psi. 1st gear is an animal, I'm considering short shifting it into 2nd, or just starting off in 2nd. Thoughts? 08 1125R Keda RT-4, Erik Buell Racing ECM, and K&N About 170lbs in gear I can't afford to do burnouts and run through tires, but I will do a scrub to get some of the loose dirt off them. |

bring a bicycle pump in a backpack. that way you drop the tire pressure at the strip then put it back to street specs before you leave |

I'm no drag racing expert, but it sounds like traction isn't the issue - so burn out and tire pressure not big factors From what I hear, strapping down the front suspension would be the ticket |

After 15 passes, the best I ran for the night was 7.203@105.38 with a 1.9 60-ft time. Street tires, 20 psi, no burnout just a little tire scrub. The rear end kept breaking loose off the launch, I have some clutch control to work on so it seems. And for good fun, here is a video of me walking away from a gsxr1000 like he has two many cylinders. https://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/8b2VT5OqWoyG U0GOaSKeFw?feat=directlink (Message edited by smit3833 on April 30, 2011) |

My advise would leave the bike useless for anything other than drag racing. I want to see an 1125 make a pass beginning with a 1.25 or better 60 ft. That would bring the first 8 second pass. AhhhHemmmmm....Somebody needs their engine back together . |
