Hey Guys, About to get ready to slap on my Taylor Made CF Covers. Any tips/tricks I should know or simply bolt them on with the factory bolts and torque to spec? Just making sure nobody had a "gasket slips out or oil shoots you in the eyeball, watch for such and such advice". |

it's as easy as slapping them on and replacing the bolts. you could use larger washers if you really wanted to. i'd say go to the torque spec, but be careful not to over-torque them or you'll split the CF/kevar and epoxy sandwich under-torque them and you'll leak 20-50W. i kept the T-45 handy and kept checking it, twisting a little harder every day until it stopped leaking. and have you allready had your clutch leak? mine started leaking after i put the cover on, and the DOT-4 fluid got under all teh paint and peelled it up before i noticed the smudge oozing out onto the bottom of the clutch housing |

sl33py: You can order them directly from Taylor Made Racing (give it a Google), I ordered from Erik Buell Racing just to support the man, even tho I live in LA and could have picked them up from Tayor Made (*pats self on back) Nillaice: thanks alot! and no, no clutch leak for me yet!} |

Simple install, as it looks like you already have. One thing, when I did mine, I retightened twice after after a series of heat cycles. The C.F. will move around a little and not crack if you don't get too carried away over tightening in the begining. If you do much driving in the rain (as I do), I found a paint that sorta resembles the look of the carbon fiber. I sealed the edges with epoxy and they put a coupla light coats of "cast iron" (color) paint, inside and out. Keeps the oil, road crap, water, etc out from getting into the carbon fiber edges. Mike |

The CF covers fit nicely, but are built-up material that compresses. So, on a second ride after installation, I had a leak at the 4 lower stator bolt gasket area. Big leak; oil on rear tire/etc.. So, I'd say install those bolts w/a threadlocker, and check cover bolts from time to time. |
