Well the time has to to move on to a new bike. I thought long and hard about this decision because I really did love my 1125R. However, 6-8 week wait for parts at the minimum meant unfortunately to riders in northeast Ohio that I could be waiting half the riding season for a part to come in if something went wrong. Not to mention aftermarket parts for the bikes are increasing in price simply because their isn't a big market for them. I went out and bought a new 11 zx10r yesterday and traded the 1125 for it. Got 4300.00 for a bike that 3 years ago was worth 13k that really sucked. Keep leaning brothers. |

thanks for the post, i rebuilt a 1125cr in 6-8 weeks, that included changing the frame along with the bars, controls, mc's and many other parts. hope u enjoy the zx-10r, hope yours doesn't need the recall. |

Recall? If I'm not mistaken, 1125's had a few of those. No bike is bullet proof. In the end, my guess is the ZX10 will be more reliable. It's all personal choice. It really aggravates me when others give someone sacastis crap when they decide to get rid of their Buell. I've had 7 Buells since 2004. Still have a 9s. I raced a 9r and a 12r. The 1125, IMHO, was by far the most problem prone of them all. I got rid of mine and don't regret it at all. |

I bet you will be very happy with the '10..I rode one last week and quite frankly, if I was better positioned financially, I would have one in a heartbeat. Fast is a poor choice of words describing the bike...brutally, scary fast is closer..makes my beloved XB feel like my 3 hp briggs powered minibike. Become close friends with your tire provider...Enjoy!! Oh..last thing...the "recall" or "technical hold" was about valve spring surge due to the cam ramp design...the "new" cam, springs, and retainer eliminated the problem and ADDED about 3 MORE HP. |

buy the euro ECM for it The only thing I can say bad from my limited experience with the new 10R is I think its a slap in the face that when they came out they were boasting about 200hp, it was on the covers of mags etc. Then a month later there is no speakking of power. http://dragbikelive.com/news/archives/8073 |

Good luck man! Those 10's are sweet bikes! Just remember to check back in with Erik Buell Racing every few months. There will be a bright future and many of us plan on riding some sweet bikes with strong dealer networks and support. This won't happen overnight. Good luck and be safe. |

I have bought 10 - 12 things in the last year for my XB12X and 1125R never had to wait over a week and they had none of it in stock and I live in Ohio I think you just wanted a new bike. |

rocketsprink, "It really aggravates me when others give someone sacastis crap when they decide to get rid of their Buell." It really aggravates me people come on the the buell forum saying, I'm moving on to a better bike, because the 1125's has all these problems and it takes to long to get parts. Go post that $hit on a kawi forum. Most of the buell problems are caused by stupid harley techs that don't know how to work on real bikes. If someone wants to get rid of their buell, i have no problem with that, but the reasons do not make sense to me. It doesn't take 6-8 weeks to get buell parts. I ordered $3k in parts and it none of them took more then 2 weeks to come in. I got a frame in 5 days. And also on the trade in, i was told by a dealer in san diego that they would give me $6000 for my 1125cr, they are selling 1125's for $7k and are looking for as many as they can get. So he got screwed on the trade in. I paid $7,600 for mine OTD during the firesale, so if i could get $6k from a dealer i think that is a great deal. If i had bought an r6 or jap bike new, i would have lost a lot more then $1,600 in a year. As far as the problems, The buell is rock solid imo. The only thing that worries me is the stator, but I am getting an electrical engineering degree, so I can take care of that with an aftermarket volt reg and rewind the stator. Many bikes have stator issues, not just buells, and the stator issue is the only real "problem" with the 1125s. (Message edited by dktechguy112 on April 23, 2011) |

I have been waiting for 2 weeks now on some exhaust header gaskets from the dealer, and every time my bike has gone in for repair it was in for 3 weeks waiting for them to receive parts so I feel his pain. That said, I still love my R too much to consider trading it for anything less than a KTM RC8 or Duc 1198 or 1190RS, none of which I will be able to afford anytime in the near future. So, enjoy the 10R, I loved my ZX6R and it was between a 10R and the 1125R for my upgrade a while back. No regrets, but I believe the 10R would have been a good choice too. |

I agree 100% with Pyrogen regarding the KTM RC8, Duc 1198, 1190RS, and add the BMW S1000R as well. I've owned my share of Japanese bikes and part of my allure to the Buell brand is being set apart and not riding a "cookie cutter" bike. I am also a huge fan of Erik Buell and his American entrepreneurship!

DKtech - youre being a dick. The dude didnt say 'THIS IS A BETTER BIKE!' He said he loved his R, but the wait time on parts was a pain and that the price of mods were up compared to other sportbikes. The mod thing is definately true The wait, well that might vary. I've gotten some things super fast, some things takea couple weeks. How HD techs have anything to do with wait times on parts.....you've got me on that one, I dont understand it. Lots of people on here post of what they buy after Buell, and no one ever talks crap until today. Awesome |

Hybridmoment, When I see that post, the subtext I see is that the new bike is better. he traded the 1125 in for $4300, probably paid $14k for the kawi, so that's a difference of $9-10k. Why would he pay $9-10k if he didn't think it was better? I know he didn't specifically say it, buts that's what i get out of it. and my bro had a ktm 690 smc, the radiator started leaking and it was under warranty, the wait time for a new radiator was 2 months, they had to weld the old one because he couldn't wait that long. Didn't mean to be a dick, the zx-10 is a sweet looking bike. Wasn't saying HD techs have to do with wait times on parts, I am saying that HD techs for the most part don't know how to work on buells, which means they cause more problems from lack of experience. Also, the kick stand spring broke on my Cr, I stopped by and the dealer ordered the parts. I ordered an extra kick stand from ebr so that i would have a backup in case it happened again. I got the kick stand from ebr in 4 days. The dealer called me up and told me the parts were in(took about 5 days), and when i brought the bike in they couldn't install it because the parts guy ordered the wrong parts. I had to give them the kick stand I got from ebr to put on because they ordered the wrong parts. Another time they ordered the wrong belt for me(told me harley sent the wrong belt, but I saw the work order with the R belt part number crossed out), that took two weeks because they ordered the wrong belt and didn't realize it until they tried to install an R belt on my CR, so my point is a lot of time delays for me have been the result of the screw ups at the dealerships, not waiting for parts. |

There's a good chance you will be waiting on parts for any bike. Dealers just don't stock a lot of parts. Not to mention that Japan is glowing in the dark right now, so if it has to come from there, you might be screwed. |

Ok I guess I started a sh$t storm here. To make things a little clearer for everyone, my 08 had 22k on it so 4k on trade wasnt bad retail is 4900 with that many miles according to nada and it needed new tires. Im not saying the zx is more dependable or a better bike. Is it stupid fast, hell freakin yeah it is 190 hp out if the crate 202 with ram air yeah thats a freakin monster. I loved my buell i traded cuz i wanted a new bike yes but i also wanted it because inevitably parts at all dealers are going to be more and more hard to come by. As far as wait times lemme say this last summer my bike was down for 6 weeks waiting on parts for the third clutch warranty repair on it and it was done by a buell tech not a hd tech. I will always miss my 1125 and always have the deepest respect for Eric Buell and his racing company. His ingenuity and drive for excellence has definitely improved the streetbike world and thats what matters most. To J_Copeland it was traded to Johnnyk's powersports in niles, ohio. They are a great dealership and theyre can am dealer as well so theyre familiar with brp rotax engines which was nice. |

You know, our bikes aren't but a year or two away from being a touch long-in-the-tooth compared to the stuff that's coming out. I don't think it's a bad thing, just the reality that our bikes have stopped in time, and the market for sport motorcycles moves forward at a pretty remarkable pace. I hope you enjoy that ZX10 Gman; they are great bikes. I'm gonna poke around on my Buell for a couple of more years, and then I'll look around, too. ... and then, I'll say, just like you did... I liked my bike, was proud to own one (or 4 Buells total, as the case is with me), and it became time to move on. Good luck to you, bud. |

This all reminded me of this quote by Isaac Newton.. "I do not know what I may appear to the world; but to myself I seem to have been only like a boy playing on the seashore, and diverting myself in now and then finding a smoother pebble or a prettier shell than ordinary, whilst the great ocean of truth lay all undiscovered before me." I love my 1125, it's a great sporty streetbike, very unique in the motorcycle world, and was available for a fantastic price. I also love my 650 V-Strom, my Norton, and most of the 72 other motorcycles I've been fortunate enough to own over the years. My point is, these things are just our current smoother pebble and prettier shell. These are our diversions, our toys, and if the OP wants to have a fling with the ZX 10 now, well I wish him a lot of fun, no tickets, and a good trade in for the next shiny pebble. We are all a bunch of men (mostly) trying to extend our adolescence with these motorbike things and we should rejoice in any and all of them for each other. It's all good so long as no one is bleeding |

Waite a minute - I like the German, Italian, and British bikes, and Hondas are good (family preference regarding longevity) as well. Not so Black and White -Buells more because of their American ingenuity which attracted me, and I never looked back, tried a few bikes now, but the Buell character/style still keeps my attention. Closest was the new BMW, the owners I talked to couldn't say enough about them, ate tires like a Buell was one favorable quote. EZ |

I've only owned two bikes so far. 1) an 06' ninja 650 and (2) my 09 1125R. Got mine new at the firesale. I don't care if I pay $40,000.00 for an 1190. I love what Erick makes. It fits me and fells better than any YamaKawaHondaSuzu I've ever thrown a leg over. I'm 6'4". And the only other bikes I can physically fit on are Ducati 848s and 1198s. (I'd rather ride a Buell) but the Duc is a close second. |

I guess sometimes it's hard not to take disparaging comments personally. I feel sorry for y'all with so much trouble you've abandoned your 1125. I've had some troubles, rideability thru the first year of ECM flashes was frustratingly harsh. An aftermarket tune helped, an Erik Buell Racing ECM sealed it. I am more than happy with both my Buells. Hope y'all find a steed that you feel as strongly about. Z |

An alternative idea--if you really loved the 1125, rather than spending a bunch of money out of pocket for a new replacement, why not buy a used bike to supplement the 1125? I've got an 1125, a 675, a cbr600f2 and a drz400e. I could sell them all and have enough (or close to it) money to buy a new Jap liter bike, but I'd much rather have several different bikes in my garage than just one. If one or even two of them end up waiting for parts (a high likelihood for the Triumph and moderately so for the 1125), I can still ride. |

"I guess sometimes it's hard not to take disparaging comments personally" Why is it hard? Did you design or build the bikes? It is all someones opinion, some people dont like certain things, big deal. For people to get worked up about someone else not liking something that they like is silly. |

I think the OP just wanted a new bike. Anybody can come up with all kinds of reasons to buy something new. Some can be legitimate, other reasons are just personal, and then others economical. There is no economic reason to get rid of a bike that's only a few years old. You will always loose money on that and owe more after all is said and done. Having said that, the ZX10R is a fantastic bike. It's the latest and greatest so what can I say? It has to be fantastic. The 1125R is slowly falling behind in sportbike tech. Just like the 2008 ZX10R is no longer the state of the art. Such is life in the sportbike world where technology and performance increase every few years. I do agree. If you've moved on then move on. If you want positive reinforcement then expect to get that from the new bike brand and not the one you got rid of! LOL! Meanwhile, many 1125 owners will continue to enjoy their bikes. Others will endure the myriad recalls and fixes many dealers just have clue about. Such is life with the 1125R. Rest assured that any time you feel like running you WILL loose $$. That is true with almost ANY bike you buy today. If you do run, be happy, content, and at peace with your purchase and just move on. |

The HD experience started 16 years ago when I bought a used s1. There were so many issues, the adrenaline rush was being interrupted with 'issues'. Lousy rear shock that couldn't keep a seal, isolators, output pulleys, gas tanks and clamps, swingarm,... The CR had a stator issue. That is it, one thing is a very short list. The bike got GP Suspension the second week I had it. Since then 9700 miles just gas, oil and tires. 'any excuse will do' is true on motorcycles too. (Message edited by dannybuell on April 24, 2011) |

Thank you for your interest in our eBay listing. I am sorry but we would not be interested in trading that motorcycle. Feel free to call us on Monday at 866-795-CYCLE if you need anymore help. Thank You Mark Lehrbaum. That's the response I received when I inquired about a zx10r on ebay. They accept tradins but not 1125r's. Im not sure what kind of buellaid your dealers on but the majority of dealers wont touch this bike. Sorry dktechguy but your a little over the top. |
