I am off on a road trip the end of June and I thought I would check my stator..... (no i will not sell my bike, please do not tell me to just ride- thank you) I am just getting started and from what the service manual reads (and badweb posts) it seems the wires from the stator are supposed to be IN the plastic channel NOT floating next to the engine. Thanks Biggs HD So it looks like i have met my first hurdle. I suppose I will have to decide if the wires are dong okay outside of the channel and see how hard it might be to fish it up an into the channel when reinstalling has anyone else had to deal with trying to get the wires back in the correct routing? thanks todd | ||

Have you had bad luck with Biggs? I too am from north county SD and deal with Don there. Haven't had any major issues with them. | ||

no REAL issues with Biggs. I did the VR on my own dime because they could not duplicate the problem. (system voltage intermittent error with issue overcharging battery) oh well. They did my stator and it is still working. Oh, when they did my harness upgrade they "forgot" to reattach my charcoal canister. back on topic: After further investigation I can not really tell where the wires are supposed to go.... maybe they are supposed to be floating near the engine? anyone happen to have a pick of correct routing of stator wires. Search here and service manual are no help. thanks, todd | ||

Why not floating next to the engine ? I decided since the chances are very great that a stator change or three or four times is in the cards for the 09, 1125's. So...with that in mind, while pulling the original harness thru the plastic tunnel, and the difficulty that it was to do...that I wasn't going to put the harness thru that amount of "stretching" again...! Both plastic (insulation) and copper (conductor) can be stretched very easily. Stretched to the point of thinning the copper measurably. And the copper wire, unlike the plastic...will not go back to it's original state. This also effects the power it will transmit without creating heat. So yes...for two reasons, I left mine outside the tunnel/channel, in order - 1. Possible unnoticed damage to the harness. 2. Ease of the next stator change.. And the way it can be done...without tugging on the harness...mine "appears" to be in the correct location...just esthetics ya know..! Mike | ||

Well the color of the epoxy is mostly a light tan and does not look over heated or fried. BUT on close inspection there are cracks all over the place. not positive, but I think this is not good are those folks that have used custom rewind still happy? | ||

Tbowdre, far as I can tell anyone who's installed the Custom Rewind hasn't reported any complaints or issues since installing it. Talking with the guy at Custom Rewind he reports no one has returned any that they have ordered from him (Buell stators). | ||
