Just finished up my new luggage compartment that I have been working on for weeks now. Got to feeling better and finished it up a few hours ago. Went for a shake down ride and everything works great. I made a mount that is the exact same as the seat mount. I can take off the tour pack and put on the seat in just a click of the key. Thanks. (Message edited by redbuell1203 on April 10, 2011) |

If I had that thing, I'd likely put an aux fuel tank inside it. |

As long as you like it and it works, that's all that matters. I personally would have put something half the size but I take it that wouldn't be a problem since the mounting hardware is in place. |

Sprintst - Red - really it does look good and very functional. Do you do much touring with the R??? |

Haven't yet, longest rides were on the Sprint ST, but I'll be getting rid of it. Can get a bit saddle sore around town after 4 hours or so, so we'll see |

The saddlebags came on a bike that I bought and I thought that with a little welding here and a little tubing there I could be able to take and use it as a commuter. I have to travel on the weekends roughly 90 miles each way to Carle Hospital. I am not comfortable riding with a backpack, so I have nothing invested in this saddlebag but time. It also has a handle so I can use it as a suitcase. It is smaller then it looks. The lights on the back are not functioning right now. I have some black fiberglass side saddlebags that are not on yet. They will also be removable without affecting the original bike. (Message edited by redbuell1203 on April 10, 2011) |

This is the bottom mounting system that I came up with. The loop is from an "s" from a rubber strap that is welded to 1/4" plate steel and the front mount is the same 1/4" steel that was formed in a press. |
