First and foremost I love this forum and thanks in advance for any help received or comments or suggestions given. I know this problem has been covered in the past but I wanted some suggestion on how to make the warranty fix it. When I purchased my 1125CR I noticed that when I finished riding, it had a very strong smell of gas. Didn't think much of it but it started dripping fuel. This happens even when I'm riding, idling on a stop sign, or whenever. It happens a little more when I just fill her up, but even when she has a 1/4 of a tank she still drips gas. What i started doing to prevent the dripping in my garage is opening the fuel cap to let the pressure out. And this seems to help out tremendously, but obviously I can't do that if I'm running errands or just riding, so it keeps on dripping. I took her to H-D in Denver and they helped out, but they told my wife that they made the dripping decrease but not stop all together and blamed it on my aftermarket exhaust and power commander. Unfortunately I haven't been able to ride my bike or even confirm that the dealers did any work on my bike because I'm deployed. But from some of the threads I've read I noticed that a good solution to this problem is having what the CA models have stock and that is some sort of charcoal canister or something of that sort. If this solution is real and it works, I want to make the dealers pay for the part and make them install it. My bike is still under warranty when I get back to the states but I want to take care of this before it runs out, any help or suggestions??? |

Put the bike back to stock, call HD Customer Service and convince them that you want the carbon canister installed under warranty. Tell them something like your kids bedroom is right over the garage, and the bike will make the house stink of fuel, especially the kids room. Worst comes to worst, the can and hoses to connect it will set you back $50, so if you are unable to get them to cover it you can easily do it on your own. |

post a request on the racing site of this forum - I'm sure some of the left coast racers may have one laying around - i don't think tech inspection requires one to be installed! good luck |

I went ahead and ordered/installed the carbon can without realizing I could make my dealer eat it. (not that they volunteered that information while I was ordering either) Easy install, not expensive, solved the gas vent drips, done. |

A pound or two. It is black, little larger than a soda can, and hides under the seat. |

Thanks - too heavy, though!! I lost the passenger peg mounts so I'm looking at rerouting the catheter so it doesn't pee on me boot. |

Pattio I don't really mind paying for it, if I have to. But where can I purchase these canisters from? And I'm not really mechanically inclined but I'm sure I can figure it out. |

I ordered mine from my local dealer, Precision HD in Pawtucket RI. Parts guy Tripp is a Buell guy, and very helpful. |

Thanks, Does anyone know of a website that sells these canisters? Or is it a Harley Dealership thing? |

I only know of Harley dealers that have them. Send a PM to Tripp and he can order on up for you and get you a Badweb discount. |

Just route the drain hose into a breathered catch can and occasionally dump the fuel back into the tank! |

The bit Froggy said is exactly how I got H-D to install the cali can on my 49-state '09R >> " ... call HD Customer Service and convince them that you want the carbon canister installed under warranty. Tell them something like your kids bedroom is right over the garage, and the bike will make the house stink of fuel, especially the kids room." In my case, that happened to be true ... So it was more than just a good story. When your 4 year old daughter says that the smell in her room makes her sick to her stomach, that tends to get your attention. Apparently not everyone is as tolerant of fuel smell as I am. H-D installed the cali can on their dime, all is well ever since. Mike (Message edited by milleniumx1 on April 08, 2011) |

Guambra - I'm just up the road from Denver. After the vent-line-re-route, Loretta was pissing all the time. I moved it back to the original spot front, below right pod and made sure it misses the header. The shorter hose hardly ever pisses or stinks up my garage. As usual, YMMV Zack (Shameless plug) - I know it's a ways up here from the Springs, but we'll take good care of you at High Country. I work in the Parts dept. |

Zac4mac, I'm not sure which dealership I went to, a lot of things were happening at that moment, but I'll be back soon to the springs in september or so. I'll head out there as soon as I can. Thanks |
