Installing the same part that failed and expecting different results is the insanity of it all! |

Replacing a defective part with a new one is not the same as installing the same part that failed. I know what you're trying to say, but twisting semantics into a joke is not helping the guy with the problem, even if it amuses you. This is a support forum not stand up comedy. |

Take a good soldering iron, solder, side cutters, knife, lighter, shrink wrap....delete the connector....end of connector problem.....XBs had a similar problem with the "77" connector. |

the fix for the flat blade 77 connector, was the pin style connector |

I'm looking into getting a 2009 CR with 12500 miles. In the process of trying to find out if there were any repairs/recall performed by HD. My Uly had issues with electrical connections... Heat was causing the ECM connectors to expand and then loose connection. My symptoms were... the bike would stop running, no engine light, no fuel pump prime, no error codes. Once the bike cooled down, everything came back and then it would start. Unplugging the ECM results in the same behavior. I eventually found the issue by putting downward pressure on the side of the ECM connector after the bike died... the pressure caused the connections to make contact and the ignition and fuel pump came to life... once I let go... the bike died again. It took me over a year to figure this one out. I eventually resolved this by putting a slight bend to all the female connection ends. This improved the connections to the pins. I wonder if the 1125 stator issue is caused by a similar connection condition. Unfortunately the bike does not stop running when there is a connection issue with the charging system. |

I wonder if the 1125 stator issue is caused by a similar connection condition. That's easy to answer - No it's not. Too much heat (or not enough cooling if you prefer) plus a cheap Shunt VR that keeps the Stator at full load (even when it's not needed) is the issue. |

Ah.. is there any aftermarket companies making VR's.. like Cycle Electric for HD's and air-cooled Buell's? I heard that Cycle Electric makes the best stators and regulators for HD motors. http://cycleelectricinc.com/ I have an M2 that has Cycle Electric stator and regulator. Can you use a cycle electric VR on a 1125? |

Jules- bingo. That's a perfect way of describing the problem. Thank you. |

Why is there no perminant solution for this issue? Why can't a better VR be added to the bike? Here is a site that explains what a shunt VR is. http://www.tpub.com/content/neets/14178/css/14178_ 146.htm I want solutions before I buy my 1125!!! |

Jespo, use the search and read up, a bunch of changed to aftermarket rewound stators and aftermarket VR's. Buy the bike, ride it, and if it breaks, fix it aftermarket. |

I want solutions before I buy my 1125!!! Like Froggy says - do your homework, there are options available, or simply buy a 2008. Or buy something else... either way don't bleat about something you have no experience of. |

Thanks Froggy. I have my eye on a 09 CR in Lincoln RI. Already has the Barkers muffler and Erik Buell Racing ecm. I have been doing research on this issue. Sounds like the rewind is the way to go... but it also sounds like the works of a poor VR. I'm going to contact cycle electric to see if they would be interested in making VR's and regulators for 1125's. It's worth a shot. |

Wow... Jules... seriously!!! I've been doing my homework... I dont like the solutions I'm hearing. Let's try to be a little more courteous here. I assure you that I'm knowedgable of Buells... more than most. |

Tough crowd here, Jespo. Just don't say anything about a Chinese VR! |

I guess so... In my line of business... you are either part of the solution or part of the problem. I hope to provide solutions. |
