Bigevildoer, took a 25 mile ride through some bumpy roads and the bar ends didnt budge. They do wiggle a little if you try to move them, but do not vibrate while riding either. I am very happy with them. Very clear mirror as well. A+
To be noted, the knight designs bar end diameter doesnt exactly fit right with any of the spacers included with the mirrors. I used one strip of electrical wire wrap(the heavy, tacky course stuff), and the middle spacer. No issuses at all. The bar end turns before the mirror stalk will. |

Oh and one other note. Looks like you have a R from your profile, but if you use the cr higbars, you need to drill them out about a 1/2" more to fit the Knight designs using a 45/64" bit. You cannot get the bar end in all the way otherwise. With the R it wont matter. They are steel, and the same diameter all the way through. |

Just as an FYI (in case you did not know!):
The Uly luggage was NOT meant to be used with the top case and no side racks. If you run around with just the top case and no side racks, you put too much stress on the (no diving board like) tail and the tails literally break in 2! Not a fun experience...

I dont understand though, what breaks? The mounts themselves?
Are you saying that the side mounting racks add stability to the tail section?

Yes Andy is correct. The weight that far back has more leverage and puts additional stress on the entire tail section. On the Ulysses, the side luggage mounts also hook up to the driver/passenger footpeg mounts to give it more strength.
I've seen it happen on my bike running only the topcase rack, I was cruising down the road and I saw the shadow of the topcase wobbling up and down like its mounted to Jello. |

Hmm glad it was brought to my attention. I like riding with just the top case because i can just throw my helmet in there when I go in a store or similar.
I honestly dont use the side cases that much.
Has anyone done any modification to remedy this?
The other issue is with the 1125 frame I dont have the same passenger peg mounts. I had cut that mount off and was gong to run a brace up to the xbs/1125 passenger peg mounts on the frame rail. I dont think that would give the same stability. I would also rather NOT HAVE to run the passenger pegs to run the side/top case brackets. Hmm I am going to have to think about this some...
Is this a issue if you are not running anything heavy in the back? I basically have a disc lock, some zip ties, and rain suit in there. Like I said I like to just have it on to put my helmet in when parked. |
