Well, I finally got some time to make headway on my race bike project. So far...
The major components are apart. Now I put all the bodywork back on the frame and off it goes to paint, while I go through the motor. |

You took everything apart and left the front reflectors on the forks??? Good luck, looks like a lot of work. |

Those are not reflectors. They are good Karma attraction units. I have one on my forehead as well. |

I am hoping to get an '09 motor and race suspension and brakes from EB-R, but they are not responding to my emails, so I don't know where I stand with that. In the meantime, since I don't know the history of the 08 motor that is in it, I will tear it down and inspect it. Shawn Higbee sold me an older E B-R race exhaust, and ECM tuned for it, so I will start there. I would like to mill the heads to up the compression, but again I am waiting for input from the Man as to how much and where. I've looked into Carillo rods and CP pistons, but they would be a custom order and mucho dinero. Same with Del West Ti valves. I want to run in the Super Stock class anyway, so the above would disqualify me. If anybody has any good tips or ideas, I'm all ears. (Message edited by Rodrob on January 27, 2011) |

Power is rarely the limiting factor in lap times. |

"Power is rarely the limiting factor in lap times". Absolutely true. I am still not riding the bike to it's full potential even with a stock motor. I'm more concerned about getting the suspension right, than squeezing HP out of the motor. |

Rob - Erik Buell Racing just went through my 08 motor and milled the heads to raise the CR from 12.3 to 13.8. They told me they typically see 150 rwhp on their dyno from this combo running the AMA spec 98ron fuel - all WERA superstock legal. Looking forward to next season. |

Do you how much they milled the heads? I sure wish they would answer my emails. |

I don't know how much they took off. I'll ask when I pick it up. |

"Power is rarely the limiting factor in lap times." absolute true statement, but it sure can get you out of a tight spot.... and in to one for that matter.. better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it, just my opinion. |

E-B-R has developed pistons, valves, rods, heads, cranks, etc., and have proven them winning championships. Please work with us. Sorry we are not advertising and promoting more. Believe us that every cent spent here helps us get back in the motorcycle business. Just sayin', folks... |

I'm on a real tight budget here, but I see a re-flash on Loretta's ECM and a new race ECM for the Uly in the near future. Hang in there guys! RELENTLESS Z |

Rod, You gonna get your CMRA race license this year and come racing with us? I've love to see another Buell on the grid. |

Then please respond to my email as I have been trying to complete this transaction for two months and am now out of time. I do not want to go elsewhere, but will if I have to. |

As much as I would like to, I don't think I'll be doing CMRA this year. I'm still trying to get to the other tracks in CA. But thanks for the invite. I'm sure it would be a blast. Maybe in the future. |

And of course . . through the end of the day on Monday . . . it only takes a paltry $100 to score a free Buell poster. For those of you with posters coming . . . I'm going to try to ship Monday . . we, quite literally, have been SNOWED in. |

Her are some pic details of how the radiator sits in the Flexiglass fairing pod. You can see (I hope) the gaps that would alow airflow around, rather than through the radiator. I'm working on sealing these up and will post pics of what I come up with.

Rob, You have to trim those fiberglass edges or they will rub TROUGH your rads doing a fair bit of damage in the process. I have small zip ties holding my rads in place through the inside scoops. There are some air gaps, but the system works fine. From time to time, those zip ties snap and I have to replace them. |

Thanks. Do you have this system, or the original one? |

Rob, I'm using the original system, yes. It's the same as the DSB-Spec body work you see on the 1125r-DSB bikes. |

Yeah, the bike was absent a few items. Good news! I got a call from E BR and my motor should ship on Monday. I might be able to have this done by February's race. |
