Barkers with a quiet core, a power commander with a custom tune, my thoughts... HMF between the two mentioned. |

I have put 7500 miles on mine along with the Erik Buell Racing ECM, and I love it, sound great, easy to install, no discoloration at all.

I have the HMF (its Loud), will be selling soon after I get the cash to order the RT3 or 4 from Dean. I like the idea of a more custom setup. The Aph performance has also caught my eye. (Message edited by dbolemiss on January 09, 2011) |

I've got an HMF and it's the sweetest sounding 1125r exhaust that I've heard. (compared to D & D, Jardine, modded stock and HR1 Riot) Gives the bike a nice deep rumble that's admittedly a tad on the loud side when at idle, but at operating speeds it quiets down considerably. Have the EE BB RR pump gas ECM, and it's fantastic. |

I have the RT2 and absolutely love it. You feel and hear nothing but power and it looks sweet! Best of all, its tucked under the bike and you can customize the look by choosing the tips and Dean makes a every effort to get the look you are looking for. My opinion, RT3 is the way to go. |

Yeah I love mine. It is a bit loud at idle, but like was said before, it calms down a bit once you get going. Here's mine. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ahZTZeDUpIY |

I liked the sound of the HMF, but it was too loud on longer rides and the final fit was more of universal can made to fit rather than a made to fit can if you get me ? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F39DBHtc-DY&feature =youtube_gdata_player http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NoLPH_PmFJc&feature =youtube_gdata_player |

Too LOUD! I bought a new HMF and only had it on the bike for 50 miles before I took it off. It was 100dB at IDLE. Some have said is is quieter at a higher rpm, going down the road. Impossible! It may sound quieter to you, as the sound is being propelled behind you, but it is louder and those behind you will verify that. |

i guess the main thing is sound for me. I like loud, i want loud. Not to loud as to piss off my neighbors or anyone else. Which kicks out my D&D thoughts. Even the guys on here with HMF pipes are willing to set them aside for a Keda Design pipe. I guess I should persue the RT3. I also was browsing the web last night and found a nice belly pan from Trojan Horse(I think) that would look nice with the RT3 pipe. |

I just peroused the A S B exhaust shootout - specifically the sound volume section... at idle (in db): Stock : 88 D & D : 100.8 Barker : 98.2 RT3 : 98.5 RT1 : 99 So, just by looking at some of the more popular exhausts, they are all in a very similar ball park. I had the D&D and got rid of it, simply because it was too loud, and hurt my ears after an hour ride (with plugs in). Had several cops take long hard looks at me, but let me go. The HMF is significantly quieter than the D&D when riding. The extra sound HAS saved me from being sideswiped in a traffic circle though - gave some extra gas when a cage wandered into my lane - they snapped back to the right pretty dark quick when they realized I was there. Buelldr - why not see if Crazyhawk99 wants to sell you his considering how much he despises it? It's a win/win for both of you. I get my service done at a local Ducati / KTM shop. The owners/employees there just love the sound of the bike. I've had several Ducati owners come and drool at the sound as well, wishing theirs could sound like that (even an 1198 owner with the Termignoni full system). Admittedly, the HMF is a bit of a pain in the ass to put on compared to other brands (not quite exactly a true slip on - you have to loosen the front cylinder's header bolts quite a bit in order to put the pipes on). The D&D went on MUCH smoother. Just my thoughts...

If your asking what the Db was on the HMF.It wasn't tested,HMF chose not to send a pipe for the shootout from what I understand. |

Had the HMF system on. Seemed fine. No real complaints, except I had to heat and separate the collector tubes a little before I was able to install it. Other than that and a touch loud, it was fine. I installed a Barker over the holidays just to see what, "if" there would be any difference. There is.. Maybe just a touch quieter (without the different core). And better sounding above about 40mph. The Barker is a nice system, and did take some retuning, but worth looking into........ Mike |

I bought Crazyhawk99"s HMF. It is indeed loud. Too loud for me to ride to work when I leave at 5:30am very often. But I usually ride a Burgman to work so that's not an issue. I like quiet, but since I don't ride the CR very often I can enjoy the sound when I do. Murf |

HMF does not offer a quiet core/baffle for the 1125 slip-on ("street series"), unless they came out with it within the past couple of months. I actually emailed them about it last year and they had zero interest (and I do mean no) in developing a quiet core for that exhaust. |

Bought one of the "Quiet cores" from HMF but I don't even want to install it. It chokes the exhaust outlet down to almost about 1.5" and I think that would be way too restrictive. I think they're designed for dirtbikes. It is still sitting on my work table. I might try modifying it one day. You'd be better off trying to make something yourself than buy their quiet core. HMF, it is Loud. Starting it will wake up the neighbors. Riders to your right rear will move away, but i like it. My parents initially hated the sound when i visited them in vegas. Then a few weeks later, the sound of a noisy HD kept my mother from killing the guy. His bad for being in her blind spot, thank goodness though she could hear him. after that she praised the loudness of the HMF pipe. Don;t read these postings thinking that , ehh it will be ok. HMF is loud, but it does sound great and if ridden at lower rpm in the morning the sound will be a touch quieter (essentially Lugging the engine). |
