Ok, my '09 had a replacement '10 motor installed. At the same time, the harness upgrade was done. Wondering (hoping) that since the motor has spent its entire life running the harness, do I have a better chance of stator survival? In my heart I kind of already know what the replies are going to be.......but were all '10s delivered with the harness changed from the start?

That's a good question, because I see no 2010 bikes complaining about their stators.

I think the 09 and 10 stator is the same.
Someone that has a 10 parts book look up the p/n for the 2010 stator.
The 09 p/n is Y0442.2AM, lets see if the 09 and 10 stators have the same p/n.

The 0507 Product Program service bulletin applies to '09 and '10 models, so I'd guess that the '10s would come with the upgrade already installed.

there was only a handful of 2010's, so that needs to be taken into consideration.
AFAIK the 09/10 stators have the same wattage rating (520W peak power)therefore are the same stator

There aren't any truly confirmed replaced stators failing after replacement along with the harness upgrade. At least I haven't seen one...

Anony posted a while back no CONFIRMED stator failures if the stator spent its entire life "on the harness"

too early to tell

I bought my bike with 39 miles and the stator harness was already on it. the stator went at 2200 miles. I now have 7600 miles and using stock ECM stator is OK for now.

Not wanting to be the spoiler in this thread but I had the 0507 upgrade performed and not more than 100 miles later, the charging system is failing and all VOM checks on the stator indicate that the stator has broken: less than 2 VAC output with engine running where it should be way more than that. So, it's back to the dealer to sort it out...

If I had to make a wild guess I would think that HD was being semi-truthful in their bulletin about heat.... I think Quality Assurance was the issue and heat was the problem. I picked up my bike with 39 miles and the harness was there, not long enough to do anything adverse? Failed at 2200 miles. I'm now at 7600 miles and so far so good. How could I be able to go 3x+ longer on the second stator with basically the same setup unless it was a QA problem?
