I did, a Street Triple 675R. Wonderful little bike. But I miss my 1125CR every day. It spent most of the time I owned it in the shop for recalls and electrical malfunctions, so I don't understand my infatuation with a motorcycle that was unreliable. |

Sleeper I was looking at getting the 675 as well. Unfortunately for me they said they'd give me 3K for a trade in on my R and the 675 sells over here for 11.5! Just can't bring myself to spend that on a 600. What made u decide to go with the Triumph? |

That Rocket Three is a great butch complement to the Buell. If I was gonna buy a cruiser....I had a 2005 Speed Triple for awhile and a 2000 Sprint GT. Enjoyed them both. Would have kept the GT if there were no speed limits. Sweet spot was around 115-120 and it was real easy to end up there if you didn't mind the speedo. Like the Aston-Martin of motorcycles came to mind. Never rode a motorcycle I didn't like except for the Sportster. Sorry but true. |

my 08 has 22k miles on it, its spent a total of 2 days in the shop since ive had it (may '08). i take it to track days at LEAST once a month if not more. ive broken 2 belts, changed fluids regularly, and had a spark plug electrode go out once on the front cylinder. the rest was all warranty recall stuff like the kickstand, replaced the weeping clutch cover just once and the 5th gear recall. i think my bike gets abused more than MOST 1125's out there, and its held up wonderfully. it still has awesome power. more than it did off the showroom floor with my k&n, drummer and factory race ECM. its getting full race trim this winter to be raced in AFM races next season saying that the 1125 is unreliable would be an inaccurate statement. im in the market for a new street bike however... and i am considering many options. triumph is one, victory vegas 8ball is another... also considering 848 evo and a supermoto |

I agree that the 675 is a great looking bike and I am thinking about going that route as an option for later down the road. I have not ridden one but it is a sweet looking ride. Still, nothing can replace my R. She is one bad ass bitch!!!! |

I thought you might be talking about this guy - Got this e-mail a few days ago from a friend. "So Greg Heichlebach used to be a DM for Buell, where he knew Bones. Greg then got involved in their racing efforts, where I got to know him, then in management was working his way up toward really running the company before its shuttering has just accepted the position of CEO of Triumph Motorcycles." I like Triumph, had a couple of little 500s "back in the day". Zack |

i had an 07 speed triple before my cr, that bike was in the shop more than i rode it, 6k miles spun #2 rod bearing, 3 months in the shop get it back put 1500 miles on rebuild, throws #2 rod through the block. 4 months in the shop i get it back put 600 miles on it and its burning 2 qts of oil, take into the shop several time for oil consumption, in the end they tell me it is normal, triumph customer service that is. i had many other issues with the bike as well, sucks because it was a great bike when i was running right. |

The oil consumption issue is a normal BS line from dealers who have warranty people trying NOT to fix the problem. I went round and round with Buell on my M2 when, from the factory, it had a leaky valve guide seal. 1Q every thousand miles was considered 'normal'. It took a good dealer that replaced the parts and told the warranty rep they were paying for it, period. That was the last major issue I had with my M2. |

oh i know it was bs, the thing had a steady stream of blue smoke, they were just tired of working on the bike and at the point i was being a huge pain in the ass. |

How many of you remember this announcement from Triumph a few days after HD killed Buell:
quote:The unexpected end of the Buell era Friday, October 30, 2009 We at Triumph were sorry to hear about Harley-Davidson’s decision to stop building Buells. Although Buell have been our competitors over the years, we have always had the utmost respect for Erik Buell’s passion and engineering innovation. Our philosophy at Triumph is ‘Go Your Own Way’ and we truly felt that there were only two brands in the world that embraced this ethos and allowed motorcyclists to express their individuality: Buell and Triumph. We welcome any Buell riders who want to join us at Triumph events. Our dealers host regular rides and other activities and if you would like to find out more, you can get details at a local Triumph dealer.
You know, I realize it is probably pure smart marketing, but I still think it was a pretty classy thing for them to do and it definitely raised the likelihood I will purchase a Triumph product in the future. |

oh i know it was bs, the thing had a steady stream of blue smoke, they were just tired of working on the bike and at the point i was being a huge pain in the ass. I had to run synthetic in mine to keep it from fouling plugs! The hoops they wanted me to go through to prove it was actually buring the oil was amazing (including 'sealing the oil tank' for 1k miles). Buell warranty people were not my friends for a few months. One dealer actually told me I was filling the bike with too much oil which was why it was buring it. My response was 'providing that was true, shouldn't it STOP buring oil after the level was normal?'...dumbfounded look at the toofless HD wrench followed. I'll give Perry HD/Buell in Kzoo, MI props for fixing the problem. The wrench that fixed it was a thunderbolt rider. I give Traverse City HD a big thumbs down for pointing the finger at me and avoiding fixing anything at all costs...including any future business. |

I defected to Triumph (Daytona 675) only after my 1125R was destroyed when a large dog decided that it was time to run out in front of a motorcycle. I like the 675, but the 1125R fit me better, has better calibrated suspension, and I miss that instant torque. |

"kirb, i live in kzoo MI where abouts are you from?" Muskegon. Perry's was the same for me on a new bike, but was the only other buell dealer in '99 other than TC. I did buy my bike in TC, but never went back after the trouble. |

I did a few weeks ago, got an 09 Sprint St ABS, it was a hard decision and I hope I do not regret it. The 1125r was in the shop more than it was in my garage, wanted to get out from the stress of it. The 1125r is my favorite bike I have owned and it was hard leaving it. I hope the Sprint works out for me. I do still have my S2 though, cant go without at least one buell, surely will have a second buell in the stable again someday. |

I've always liked the bonnevilles, and think that it'd be a good second bike. There weren't any dealers close by tho til this week, a local duc dealer just added triumph. |

I had a 63 bonni until I purchased a buell. I was sick of chasing parts that were getting too expensive. Then I purchased a buell - worked out well, right? |

I owned a '07 speed triple and traded it for an '08 1125r in '08 when I could. Triple was an awesome bike and it was a very difficult decision but economics said otherwise. I'd have another speed triple in a second, absolutely awesome bike in every aspect. |

I have a Daytona 675 in addition to my 1125r and cbr600f2. The Daytona has a punchy little motor. It doesn't scoot like a liter class bike but I can roll on the throttle at pretty much any rpm and it jumps forward. Acceleration above about 130mph actually feels quicker than the 1125 too. It's more nimble and more stable too (less torque and has a steering damper from the factory). Now that I think about it, on paper it's a better bike than the 1125. That said, I think the 1125 is still more enjoyable to ride, although it's close between them. Neither bike has to be worried about being sold at any point in the foreseeable future. Painkiller, Triumph was the closet thing going I could find to a Buell XB style bike. I still hate the day I sold by 1125CR, even though the dealer saw way more of it than I did. It was a difficult decision to sell her, when she ran, she ran like nothing else I have ever owned. I purchased the '10 Street Trip 675 "R" model for the better brakes and suspension changes. The handling is on par with the XB and CR, HP is down from the CR, but for in town and interstate, it works very well. I have always had an affinity for plain/naked bikes and had others including a Yammy FZ1 and Sukuzi SV1000 naked. They were nice but soul-less. I was actually in process of saving up money to add the Barracuda 2 to the stable when H/D poorly decided to cut Buell loose. All I can say now is, I hope Mr. Buell comes back swinging with one out of the ballpark, and maybe Polaris could give him a hand for backing. I would buy again. |
