Is there a difference between the stator covers from 08 to 09? I know they went to a new stator in 09 so I'm thinking the cover may be slightly different. I recently lowsided my 09 1125CR and now I want to replace the stator cover. I've looked at the covers on Erik Buell Racing (they say they fit all 1125models) but a fellow BadWeB'er has offered me a good deal on a lightly scuffed 08 cover. If the 08 cover will work it'd be just fine to have a scuffed cover vs the severely ground down one I have now. |

The 09 cover has a bigger puck. I think that's the only difference. |

The puck is only different on the clutch side, stator side is the same. It's more than bigger, it actually offers a good bit of protection. |

Just got a response from Erik Buell Racing. They say; "There was a machining change on ’09 covers, so an ’08 cover won’t fit your stator." |

Track day at Jennings. I'm still not sure how it happened. I wasn't riding over my limit or anything. I was coming into T3 off the back stretch and went to slow down and set up for the corner and WHAM I'm on the ground. I believe the front washed out on me. Maybe too much brake, maybe some sand on the track, not 100% sure. |

Yeah, I came out fine. Just a bit of rash on my elbow and some stiffness. It ate my leathers and gloves though, you can see through both of them. I'm still trying to decide the best way to proceed on the stator cover. Erik Buell Racing says that there's a difference. HD says it's the same part for all 1125. I would think that Erik Buell Racing is the authority on this though. Probably the new cover replaced the old cover, then HD wouldn't know there's a difference. But if I can save $90 I kinda want to give the 08 a try. "A machinining change" sounds like the inside of the cover was machined for clearance of the larger 09 stator. If thats the case it might be something I can do with a dremel and file. |

It was reported that Erik Buell Racing stated "08 cover won’t fit your stator", could be restated an 08 will not fit an 09+ stator. My question is if you sold your 09 stator, can you retrofit, upgrade to an 08 cover with 08 stator? http://www.EBRacing.com/shop/product140.html |

That's a thought... Anyone want to buy a perfectly fine 09 stator with < 3,200 miles on it? It's been running 13-14+ volts every time I look. |

I don't have the answer to your question .... yet. But I will be installing the 08 stator and flywheel on my 09, as well as the compufire linear switching regulator. Just waiting for warmer weather and trying to find a torque wrench to goes up to 300 ft/lbs. It does sound like they have simply machined a little more clearance for the 09/10 larger diameter flywheel. A little update on the reverse air flow project. The right hand side is just about complete. The ducting looks rather aggressive, but as long as it keeps things cooler and the fans off on the highway, then it will have worked. |
