I read a tread on buellforums.com that a member had their bike at GPR being prototyped and he claimed it was going to happen... Anyone hear anything like this?? | ||

Did you read the date of that thread? I hope it's true but thought the idea was squashed a while back based on CR production numbers. | ||

The date was 11/15/10 This is what he posted: My 1125cr just got a GPR stabilizer prototyped. They are going to produce them. Should be ready in a week or two. Click this bar to view the full image. The pic was of a red GPR dampner with an arm that came to a attachment point on the frame area to the right of the air box.. Thats funny! A year ago GPR had a CR in there hands to proto brackets and it didn't get done. There was a GPR rep at the NJ AMA races the beginning of Septmeber. I asked about a CR damper. He said they were working on it and he said it should be done the end of October. I called GPR October 22nd and they said whoever told me they were working on something was wrong because they felt they would have to make the whole bar clamp & cluster mount from scratch and it would cost too much and there just wern't enough bikes to do it for. I mentioned making a bracket with legs that fit down inside the recessed bolt holes of the existing clamp. Maybe my statement made them them rethink? There was a guy from Finland on here that was going to make a bracket but he disappeared. I hope GPR makes it! | ||

I saw a post on here where a guy made a bracket that went to the fuel cap bolts, he had to notch out the cap but it looked really clean! | ||

I own a small machine shop and am curently machining a new handlebar clamp to replace the stock one and fit the gpr. I'm going to try to make a bracket that will fit to the two mounting screws for the airbox cover. I thought when I was done I would post some pics on here if anyone was interested but it seems like it's going to be an expensive mod but I'll keep everyone posted | ||

How does the unit attach to an R model? What assumptions does it make about the triple clamp mount point and chassis point? Any chance it works with the Erik Buell Racing top triple? | ||

Here's my DIY thread on the GPR for an R model. http://badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/290431/ 489713.html/* As far as the new Erik Buell Racing top triple goes, ...although there are some relief sections that fit into the factory upper's depressions (see install pictures), as long as the installer squares off the mounting tab and torques it down, I'm not sure it would create an issue. That might be a question for Erik Buell Racing. At least, I would take a long look and measure/compare the two uppers to see how things match up. | ||

Here's a photo of a Buell XBS model from GPR website. Note the mount - inverted U shaped connected to both front bolt holes of the air box cover. I would figure mounting with a single bolt (configured for 1125R) would not be strong enough. Does the CR model use inverted U shaped bracket or the one like R model?
