You'll need more than just the belt sprocket, you need the whole swingarm assembly. A couple people have done it, you can try searching. Your probably better off going with the chain conversion though. |

ive been looking for a CR to swap with since i realized it was possible. i'd think that of the ~3000 CR's out there, maybe half of them are on here, and that maybe half of THEM would see this thread, and then maybe half of THEM would desire to trade, and that maybe half of THEM would be willing to trade, and then maybe half of THEM would seriously consider it, and then half of them would not back-out and actually swap. that leaves you with less than 50. i'm sure that they are in the minority and the market would be considerably in thier favour for swapping. compensating funds and shipping fees on such bulky items might make the whole thing not worth it. |

I'm not sure you want to do that for a drag bike unless you're gonna extend the swingarm. My CR wheelies through the 8th mile light if I hit 3rd hard. My buddies R will stay down much easier. Both stock suspension and height other than my Ohlins shock. I know you are an experienced racer. I'm just saying ride a CR before you swap. I don't want to do the swap because I like the CR gearing for the street/trackdays but think the R would be best for drag racing. |

You'd need some wheelie bars for sure! I can't see anyone wanting to swap. Who would want to go even faster on a CR? Top speed of 155 is all ready to fast on a naked bike. |

The thought has crossed my mind many times, being that I own both an R and CR, I get aggravated when I am doing 45-50mph on the CR and can't shift up anymore. The R gearing allows for better fuel economy, but having the CR gearing on one bike makes the bikes have something different other than a flyscreen. |

I can say this was a great mod for me. And now with my Barker exhaust, Erik Buell Racing ECM, and th CR gearing, IMHO my 1125r is absolutley perfect. As far as I can tell I was the 1st to do a complete swap, Erik Buell Racing helped with some tech advice. Here's my post on the details. http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/290 431/569038.html |

I drag raced a busa for years. I now have a CR and cannot imagine trying to drag race it. Just riding hard in the twisties, it seems like the front wheel is always in the air. Its a blast on the street for sure, but I think would be a handful on the dragstrip. Just my 2 cents. |

Are you saying you cannot swap just front/rear sprockets and belt?????? |

Nope. The swingarm on the CR is longer to help maintain the correct belt geometry and tension. Although, I did see a guy make a custom tensioner bracket that allows him to run the CR gearing on his R, but if it was that easy I believe the factory would of done it that way. |

Dman, nope, you weren't the 1st. Bud, at Hals HD/Buell has the 1st one. They did his back in the spring of 2009. You missed being the 1st by about a year |

Steve - sorry I meant the 1st here. i searched and posted for quite a while trying to find anyone who had done it, to no avail, then decided to take the plunge & do the write-up. I wouldn't be surprised to find several that were done well ahead of mine, just not that are posting on here ... or admitting it on here. lol Sorry if I made it sound like I was trying to brag on being the "worlds first" or something. Fireman - there are examples of guys on here that have done sprocket and idler solutions for this, you should be able to find them on search. And have had good results. i just did it the way Erik Buell Racing told me to ... the way they did it, but there's more than one way to do anything, but yes, if you can't manufacture a custom idler then you need all the components i posted to make it work the way Erik Buell Racing designed it to. Oh BTW, I didn't gear mine for the track, if I were tracking this bike I'd have left it stock, but I use my R1 for track duty & geared the 1125r to be more playful on the street. |

I meant realistic top speed! If someone has a gps picture showing anything above 155 on a cr, then post it up. Speedo is way off on this bike, even at 80mph. |

Drag racing is not about top speed but accelleration in a quarter mile--R gearing not the best for that--and I have wheelie bars that are going on. Not what I would pick for top speed anyway--got that handled with the Turbo Gixxer--top run this year was 225! |

There is a drag racer in Huntley Illinois who machined a sleeve to fit over the stock 1125r pulley so he could use CR gearing. I saw it on the bike so it must work. |

This is my bike bettybuell is talking about. Its not a sleeve its a new aluminum cnc oversized pulley that replaces your stock pulley. You don't need to buy a cr swingarm! All you need is a cr gear, cr belt, and new pulley. This has been track tested and everyday riding for 2 years. No issues!!! I'm now running the pulley on my 09 1125r since my 08 is a full drag bike now. Here is a pic my 08 when I was running the cr gear on it. If interested these pulleys are available, contact elton fish at Efrracing.com

Froggy, "I get aggravated when I am doing 45-50mph on the CR and can't shift up anymore", so what rpm range do you like to generally ride? Just curious. |

As Mike1125 said it can be done without a swingarm change if you do something with the idler pulley. As has been posted here I removed my idler and fabricated a tensioner to allow for gear changes. With 90 or so passes on my bike this summer I proved that it works just fine.

2000-4000, typically shifting 3000ish. It usually only sees 4000 once on the highway due to lack of a 7th gear. |

Puzzled, can you give more details on your tensioner fab? Thanks. |
