This is repair number 3 for a weeping clutch... Court what should I be asking to get this made right? |

I feel like a preacher... Froggy - could you please make this a stickie? X2086.1AM is the p/n for the piston/liner kit that fixes the clutch dribble. If they call Tech Services, they'll get that p/n too. No recall, but it is (was?) a warranty issue. Replacing seals is a band-aid that will not last. Gotta replace the whole shebang. Z |

Is this issue only 08's or are we all subject to the weep? I thought 09's had a revision. Maybe not. |

IIRC, the Kit came out in early to mid 2009. Not sure if/when it got incorporated into production. Loretta is a very early 08 model, built Nov 07. |

i will check the repair tickets but was told that the sleeve etc and the newer cover et al were replaced the very first time i took it in in sept 09. this seems like something more to me thus the question |

If you didn't get the X2068.1AM kit, you didn't get the fix, period. Hence your reoccurring issue. |

When my 08 started leaking, I asked ZAC to repost the part number. I called the dealer in advance and had them order it. No problems since. I am lucky in that I have an excellent dealer. Were I in your shoes, I might try looking around for another dealer. Good luck. I hope you get it fixed. |

well there are three HD dealerships in town all owned by same fam. there is one of them that has a Buell certified tech which is the one i go to. i will take this part number with me when i go to verify the correct parts. i can't be positive right now but based on the description of the work previously performed the 'fix' kit has been used on the bike already and mine isn't fixed. |

At work now, looking at the parts books for 08, 09 and 010... 2008 - RevA cover and small puck, hyd piston p/n X1086.1AM 2009 - RevB cover & puck, piston p/n X1086.1AM 2010 - RevB cover & puck, piston p/n X1086.3AM, "o-rings" have different p/n also. From this I am GUESSING that "The Fix" is on the 2010 models Just a little more info... Zack |

You still want the X2086.1AM kit, as X1086.3AM is just a piston. |

okay sooooooooo they have the X2086.1AM ordered and will call when it is in. called the other store that did the clutch fix the last two times and in march of this year they used the X2086.1AM and the R1029A.1AM cover as well. so as this has had the latest parts used WTF can be done to make this right? this is beyond stupid. |

i went ahead and called Buell CS and started a ref#. so now i just wait. in the mean time i will keep the reservoir full and will deal with the stench of burnt DOT4 fluid and a dirty boot. i know a lot of you may think i am just a whiner however I paid for a functional machine i will have a functional machine and they HD will be the ones to make it functional at no additional expense. |

Good plan. Go slow, let them feel like they are the experts, they will work harder that way. Shouldn't matter what cover you have, RevA or RevB work fine. Some dealers replace the cover due to simple staining, some don't. RevB is nicer, it has a functional puck as far as protection goes. X2086.1AM is a kit with 5 or 6 pieces and when properly installed WILL stop the leaking. Loretta had a consistent, slow dribble for almost 2 years. The first half with a RevA and the second a RevB I bought after a slow speed lo-side. I replaced the cover and seals, re-used the original hard-parts and the dribble continued unchanged. Not a drop since February, when I got "The Fix" installed. Zack |

being as though the X2086.1AM was installed at the location without the Buell tech i am truly hopeful that the install was bungled i really just want a bike that works. once i found out the Buell tech was at the Baymeadows location i have taken Betty there since then. so far they have always been nice to me and seem to be frustrated same as me with the slow/no support from HD. i cant say that they 'love' Buells but they sure don't hate on them. |

Sounds like you are at a good shop now. Don't walk away dissatisfied with any work done, but keep them eager to help. I can't emphasize that enough, especially now. You don't have to buy 100 bucks of chrome gee-gaws every visit for a Parts/Service crew to be "on your side". Just be reasonable and be sure any info you take from here or other web sources is accurate. I wish everybody could get good-great results from their local dealer. Rant off Zack |

a better shop. living in jacksonville we have Adamec Harley they've been hawking hawgs since 1931 here. they have 3 locations including a SUPER center a mid size and a hole in the wall joint too. always nice always want to help and the mid size place that is closest to the house told me they weren't very experienced with the buells esp the new ones and told me about the Buell tech at the super center so that's where i go now. i had to call the mid size place yesterday to get service ticket info on teh parts actually used. John from there was still frustrated by this as he has another 08 that is on it's 3rd or 4th set of seals pistons etc |

Thanks for the update I was looking through this thread http://badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/290431/ 554861.html?1271175016 and it seems as though it's cheaper to buy the components separately. Any confirmation on this? |
